Do you think Linkin Park will ever go back to their Hybrid Theory/Meteora style?

Hybrid Theory was an amazing album. Meteora kept the formula and made another amazing album. Then, with Minutes To Midnight, they decided to experimented. I didn't like it at first, but then grew to like it. Same with A Thousand Suns and Living Things. So my question is, do you think they will ever go back to their old style, or do you think they will continue to experiment?

They will always continue to experiment.

They've stated before that they would never go back to that style; frankly going back to Nu-Metal would be a huge step backwards for them. I Like the direction they're in now, kind of a mix of all that they have done in the past.

It's been over 9 years since Meteora, get over it already.

Seriously, people seriously need to get over themselves, Linkin Park matured, they didn't. If they want Hybrid Theory and Meteora, they're there; I can't stand ignorant people.

As much as I love those albums I wouldn't even want them to make another like them. I think they're extremely different people than they were back then, and it wouldn't be the same anyways. They're making the most of their musical abilities with what they're doing RIGHT NOW. They keep the same energy levels they've always had, but bring it in new ways. Linkin Park will always be a group of people that push themselves to create new sounds and new ways to achieve those sounds.

If they didn't experiment we wouldn't have gotten gems like Waiting for the End or Catalyst, so while Hybrid Theory remains a classic, they should always take a step forward each album.

Nu-metal LP is my favorite incarnation of the band, but I'm glad they changed their style. It was showing signs of staleness on Meteora as they basically milked all they could out of the formula. Also, they're 30-something millionaire rock stars with families. They have nothing to be angry at anymore and it would sound fake if they attempted an album with the anger of HT and M.

They will never go back to their "old" style. They've even said so themselves... They will continue to experiment and go forward with their creativity! Which I love, otherwise it would be amazingly boring, album after album having the same sound...

If they do I will most definitely stop listening to them. LT's throwback qualities made that album grow old for me as it is, so going fully back to the old style would mean I'd stop listening to them completely.

I want them to go full-on experimental from here on in.

    This thread
    Seriously, NO!
Meteora was a huge mistake, and I hope after MTM, ATS and LT they won't do THAT mistake again.

Well, if you absolutely want some nu-metal stuff, there are still the LPU CD which give us some LP HT/M stuff from time to time. LPU12 could also have some of that, you never know.

I also favor old LP stuff to the new one. But, I would not want them to do that again. It would just not feel honest.

I think they realized how shit Meteora is and said, "NEVER AGAIN."

If they went back to the Hybrid Theory / Meteora sound, then people would have reasons to call them "sell outs" ;)

They can't go back now. If they do they'll just be seen as pandering to nostalgia.

Dont know why Meteora is hated so much, it has some good tracks, but regardless, I wouldn't want them to go back to Nu-Metal, they're experimenting has been very successful and has great outcomes, if anything I'm hoping for a folk album with tracks like Castle of Glass and Skin to Bone, and if not that then I would love ATS part 2 :)

Now this is a story all about how
My life got flip-turned upside down
And I'd like to take a minute just wait a bit
I'm gonna tell you why Meteora is worse than cow shit

In 2003 or so, a band named LP
Wrote a duplicate of the album Hybrid Theory
Chillin' out, maxin', rehashing old shit
Not being creative just churning out hits

When Don Gilmore was like, "Yo I don't like your rhymes
Rewrite Somewhere I Belong about 100 times!"
"Why don't we write a song that's called Don't Stay?"
"Couldn't we just name it Leave?" "That's not emo, no way!"

Chester screamed, Mike rapped, Brad played powerchords
"Oh shit let's drop the tuning!" It's still pretty bored
Use the words 'lies' and 'ignore' in every song if you could
And in ETR Mike rhymes "would" with "would" with "would"

Now intro verse chorus verse chorus than bridge
End chorus, sound familiar? You bet it did!
Look at Meteora, I'll confirm what you heard
Same structure on every song (well the ones that have words)
