say there are two chapters to some dvd, and you want to rip only one. the problem is, they're stored in a single .vob file. on the dvd, when you want to see part 2, it just skips to that point in the file. its basically continuous, with two different videos. I want to have two different .vob (or .avi's, if you have to) files that have been divided where they were originally. right now, the two programs I use to rip dvds are DVD Shrink 3.2 (getting the .vob from the dvd) and AutoGK (converting the .vob to .avi).
thanks for the suggestion but all that program allows you to do is specify a file size for a vob file to be split into pieces. example: I have a 10mb file and I specify it to be split into 1mb pieces, the output will be 10 vob files 1mb in size. it doesn't allow me to choose which points to split it at. its also obvious the author of that program does not speak adequate english
anyone? please? :/ well I guess I wouldn't have posted a problem here if it wasn't as hard to solve as it is . well I'm still awaiting a solution if anyone's got one for me.
if you put the DVD in the drive and rip it with DVD Decrypter, you can tell DVD Decrypter to split by chapter.
ok thanks I'll try that. I've never used DVD Decrypter, though I've read about it tutorials. anyways I'll go try that. hey thanks that worked perfectly. I think I'll keep DVD Decrypter on my hard drive just in case I run into that predicament again (I like DVD Shrink's interface more). but yeah thanks! I kinda need to get more educated about the structure of dvds, cause all I know is that a .vob is the video file, but I have no clue what the hell an .iso file is or what it does. can DVD Decrypter only open and read DVDs in my drive or can I open a single .iso file and convert it to a .vob also?
Just don't get caught with it on your computer... I think macrovision got full control over DVD Decrypter, that's why there's not many sites you can download it from. And according from some website I visited the other day it's now classed as being something 'illegal' on your computer. But who gives a dam, cuz I sure don't. But DD is a fantastic program for ripping the Dvd's to your computer. And yeah that's all I wanted to say.
