So is the game worth getting? I pre-ordered it and then got scared but all the negative reviews.
This is better in my opinion. Mike is more present and the synths and turntable solo isn't as obnoxious.
I wish the electronic sections were more prevalent, so to each his/her own I guess.
It's mixed. The game is short, but fairly good. The multiplayer isn't as good as it should be -- DICE really dropped the ball there.
The lift me up part of the song sounds better to me. sounds way more raw and mikes voice is more noticeable
I think this version is pretty cool. I don't have any problems with it. I like hearing Chester's voice without effects and having Mike's voice close the song. Both work for me.
So this is what Mike meant when he said "it's not going to happen". They had no choice but to send this version to EA. What we hear on the album is the final mix.
Although I still think the final mixing on the album was rushed on The Catalyst. It hardly sounds as well mixed as other tracks. Although it's probably one of my favorite tracks the band has ever done, so figure that out .
Funny how a slightly different mix makes a huge difference though.
Agree with all that. TC may even be my favorite song of all time. But shit....the mixing sucks . It sounds MUCH better with headphones IMO. Flac focuses too much on the synths in certain parts thus the vocals get watered down. With headphones I can't tell, which is good haha.
I'm hoping LP releases it in Blu-Ray audio (will never happen but worth a wish) cause I bet they'd really mix it the way they wanted if that was done.
Didn't they say that they just gave the raw mixes to the mixer and let him do what he wanted to it? And then they voted on mixes or something of that sort?
I think they were referring to a mix-off, where you give the same songs to a couple of different mixers and do blind reviews to see whose mixing you like better. Then they vote on whose mixes sound best, reveal what the mixer's name is and go with him/her.
yep it's definitely a different mix, sounds like the gundam one was well. i remember there was ANOTHER version which was used in the medal of honour music video directed by joe hahn. It didn't have dj scratches at the start of the song
This mix is exactly the different sound I wanted to hear to make The Catalyst a favorite track for me in this album.
Now i'm off to see how I can extract this audio from the game or if someone already has!
For me this mix sounds comparable to the "Minutes To Midnight - Third Encore Session" songs.
Not diggin' it.
guitar sounds cool there
I dont know about you guys, but I'd be willing to call this almost an official Demo of The Catalyst, theres nothing different in the structure of the song, but there sure are a lot of things mixed differently.
Id say someone should rip this in hq and post some download links lol. Its interesting hearing all the little differences.
PLEASE SOMEONE RIP THIS AND POST IT FOR DOWNLOAD PLEASE!
