The Deftones have issued the following MySpace bulletin: Detail via Blabbermouth I for one cannot wait to see what these guys do next.
I hope whatever they come up with is better than their last album. I thought it was a huge dissapointment.
I personally thought it was one of their best, but I understand why a lot of people didn't like it (much like MTM). Apparently they're going back to the way they used to write albums, so maybe they'll do something that everybody can enjoy instead of alienating half-their fanbase like their last 2 albums have. Who knows with these guys right.
Fuck that. Gimme a new Team Sleep album. But seriously though, Saturday Night Wrist had some... interesting moments. "And that's why British people have bad teeth."
A good start would be Chino and Steph/the rest of the band making their minds up as to whether they hate each other or not.
I just turned the computer on, thinking "I wonder when the deftones are gonna start recording something again..." This is awesome! I love the deftones! Personally I can't single out any album as the best, but I do prefer adrenaline sometimes. I guess it's the song's like '7 words' and 'bored' that really get my attention.
Indeed, I believe that's what messed up the last album, it could've been way better than it turned out. They're still one of my favourite bands but a new record as good as White Pony, etc would be really welcome because I'm starting to lose interest... @Minus Xero: I agree, Team Sleep was amazing too!
Am I the only one who loves their Self titled album the best? lol but yeah can't wait for this to be finish next year. its great how they are goin to record this album like they used to. play it hundreds of times till they get it right and play together and then record. (or something like that) freakin sweet! im guessin certain people hated SNW was because it had the same tone through out the whole album than the rest of them. If LP didnt exist Deftones would be my #1 (well they were until LP...lol)
I really like the Self-Titled album. Even the less than stellar songs have their redeeming qualities. I'm still baffled as to why they left the song "Lovers" off of that album. Great song, imo.
Is anybody else hoping they do another adrenaline sounding album?...I mean...it's not very likely. But it would be cool imo.
I figured I'd bump up this thread instead of creating a new one. It looks like those of you who prefer their older heavier sound may be in for a treat according to this article: Full story here.
