does anyone agree with me on this point

nu-metal has been around for about 10 years, mostly the last 5 tho, for the beggining, we had classics that will live forever, Papa Roach - Last Resort, System Of A Down - Chop Suey, Linkin Park - One Step Closer, if you look at these songs and then the ones today, theres a huge difference, u might like the songs now, but they arnt going to last like them, i agree with DJ Lethal when he said bands have milked nu-metal to its most, and its time to move on, limpbizkit being the most noticiable change, going to a more alt rock sound with Results May Vary, do you think nu-metal is slowly dying, because i havnt heard an nu-metal anthem for a while now, the songs today are good, but they just wont stick

I think that you may be right, but all it'll take is one band, with one great song to come and breath new life into the nu-metal scene and send in thriving. One new idea is all it takes.

But maybe that new idea won't come. I don't know. No one does.

I don't know. Evanescence's song "Whisper" might be another of those classics. I think that at least Evanescence has potential.

Yeah some of the releases out today, :rasberry:

The epitome of the bad rock thats coming out today is Forty Foot Echo. This band is great.....if you like bands that sound exactly like everyone else. That 3 Doors Down CD is nothing special to me ('Here Without You' is awful), and most other bands (Nickelback, Limpbizkit, and Puddle of Mudd to name a few) having some unique qualities (yes even LB, i admit) but aren't daring to test the mainstream (by putting something out thats fresh), and so they are doing the same stuff over and over again.

Believe me, record companies are pushing harder than ever to have a band got to a certain 'formula' for their albums so it can maximize their profits. Thats what its doing in rap and pop, and its starting to really put pressure on rock bands to. A shame for all of music.

Here's the thing though, Evanescence doesn't encorperate most of the things that nu-metal does, so in my opinion, they are nowhere close to that genre.

That's called "Garage Rock" Man, I hate The Strokes anyway.

And truth be told, we've been always saying that we need something bigger than Nirvana to show these punks...besides living in a world of hip-hop, pop-punk and emo...people need to get out they're "Bullsh*t Scanners" big time!

Well... considering the success of Meteora, which is a nu-metal album, i cannot believe that nu-metal is dying. maybe it lost its starting glow, but all music genres start in a dope, and then everyone is like "it's over, those bands are dead". It's not that way. Maybe nu-metal is adapting to new tastes, but it's not dying.

and I don't agree with that nu metal is dying thing..... Yeah it hasn't got so much listener like metal but there is still a lot of people who listens nu metal..... and there are really good nu metal bands so it isn't gonna die maybe it's just gonna stop for a while then complete that grow thing....

As any type of music, nu-metal will change... It's normal, after a while people want something different, but with a different toutch... And I think that's what will happen.

Isn't Evanescence a bit too lite to be metal?? I think of metal as crunchy riffs, angry lyrics/mood, double bass drums....Evanescence to me is more 'Hard Rock'. I'd like to stay away from the 'nu-metal' term as it is really derogatory...

Evanescence metal? No way. Disturbed consider themselves metal and I don't even think they are metal. Metal is like, Mudvayne type stuff.

I don't think Evanescence are heavy or fast enough to be considered metal. I'd consider them flat out rock music. I mean, if you listen to the album it's not even that heavy. It's actually pretty soft rock if you ask me.
