There's a lot of people who dont follow religion on these boards, but it's kind of hard not to believe in life after death when you read this news post.

    Post your thoughts.

God does most things just not all things. There could have been a mishap at the hospital.

Well yeah, maybe they were too quick to pronounce him as dead but I like to think that there are just some things that cant be explained by science.

Something like this happened to me. I drowned when I was a baby, and they thought I had died, but my parents said I started breathing again a few minutes after I stopped breathing and they thought I had died.

It's possible his brain didn't disconnect from the rest of his body and it switched back on maybe due to something like a nerve impulse and then triggered him to start breathing again. Time is actually nothing if you think about it. Also there is the possibility of the equiptment/practices were not accurate like Mark said :p.

And sure, mines was just a few minutes, and that was an hour, but there are so many things that we don't know about the world and such yet .

It was a miracle from God.

    Hallelujah!

No seriously. He was probably in like a coma or some bullshit like that. Of course, how would you explain the no heartbeat problem? Maybe he got turned into a vampire (~!).

I want this kid to turn out to be an evil genius, then when he becomes an adult and takes over the world, we can all blame Jesus. ;)

Yeah you're right. Yuna came by and selected "Phoenix Down" from her item menu and the child was saved.

I was stupid to think otherwise, god bless that short skirted woman...

Even hours after you're dead, electrical impulses are still being sent around your body. In this case, my best guess is that one hit a nerve in his brain that caused him to start breathing again. Once that happened, everything "turned back on."

I agree with Mark: Let's look at reality here instead of fantasy.

yeah I have a hard time believing science brought back a kid from death, who was well over an hour past his death.

someone upstairs was working in his favour. I'm going to go out on a limb and say it was Buddha...

    ...and God. HA! SWERVE.

Okay, I'll drop the whole life after death theory but I do have one question that's open to opinions. Since some people happen to see themselves as if they are floating above their bodies (aka 'Near Death Experiences'), do you believe its the body slipping into a dream state from being forced into a state of unconciousness?

Many of you may call NDEs a big fat lie, but having experienced one myself I can certainly say that there is some truth behind their existence. What happened to me was that when I was getting operated on for my appendix surgery, when I suddenly saw my body wide open as if I was awake during the surgery, even though I could not feel a thing, but then after a few seconds everything went black again.

Of course, the scientific explanation for the whole deal was that my anesthsia(sp? :wth:) probably wore off a little while they were operating, and once they saw me wake up they gave me a little bit more so that I could fall back to sleep.

But it still brings me to ask, do you think NDE's are a dream that the body experiences during a state of unconciousness, or something much different?

It's what your mind is perceiving.

What I think is funny is that no one who isn't religious has any of these experiences, never sees "the light" and never sees God. Yet religious people seem to have it happen to them all the time.

It's kind of like how aliens only abduct rednecks. There's just no backbone for the story.
