What's up with how they keep filtering the vox during verses?

Otherwise, I like this song. ;) I like it better than "Crawl Back In" and "My Suffering", at least.

The "what the hell is wrong with me" lyric pisses me off so much, lol. Holy "Given Up", Batman!

I like the song though, even if the lyrics resemble any Linkin Park song. Take your pick. Blah.

This one isn't THAT bad. Definitely the best we've heard so far.

But I still wouldn't pay for it.

I reiterate what I said when I first heard Crawl Back In:

What part of this album is vastly different from Chester's contributions to Linkin Park? What was so different that it warranted this being released as a solo project? All of these songs could've been expected from LP after Minutes To Midnight came out, and honestly the album sounds more like a collection of LP studio outtakes than Chester's own creation. He's not trying hard enough. I hate saying all of this cause I know the band and even Chester checks out this site from time to time, but I'm just honestly not all that impressed.

I likely will still like the record, buy it and play it non-stop till the next LP record comes out...but a huge opportunity was missed with this CD. With Chester's vocals DBS could've been the next Alice In Chains...instead it seems like a band that doesn't know what sound it wants to make and instead is in the midst of an identity crisis.

Again I know he's very proud of DBS and it's his baby...but come on...enough with these bullshit "what the hell is wrong with me" type of lyrics. They're overdone, and Chester owes it to himself to write something better then that.

Seriously. He's not 23 anymore. These lyrics were believable on Hybrid Theory. It's been 10 years since that time. I don't buy this teenage angst anymore.

I thought this was what all the hardcore LP fans who said MTM sucked wanted? LOL.

    Sounds fine to me.

I think people are having too high hopes for this album. I love Chester and he's always been a huge musical inspiration for me, but for his voice. Lyrically he's not the greatest and this is pretty much proving it, but he's making the music HE wants to make, despite what people say. He's proud of it, like I'm sure you all would be proud of the music you make for yourselves. I'm still going to buy the album, I'm going to support him and I'm not looking for a deep religious experience with this record. I'll wait for the next LP album for that, but this is just something fun to hold me over til then. He's not a strong lyricist, but he writes lyrics that could apply to people in everyday situations. HE'S making what HE wants, and more power to him for it. No, this album's not going to gain a million fans out of it and it won't win a Grammy or anything, but it's still something new from Chester. Think about it, the guy's got a lot on his plate. He has a family now, he runs Club Tattoo, he has his clothing line (I think that's still going) and writing songs for 2 bands. Dude's gotta be stressed! I think everyone just needs to cut him some slack and accept DBS for what it is.

what is everyones problem? This song is amazing. Chester's vocals are perfect with the drums and guitars..even though its only 2 minutes its probably the best song ive heard besides My Suffering. This is an amazing song.

I remember cringing to the lyrics to Runaway when I was 12.

    *Raises hand*

I was 15 when LPA launched. At those times, LP's lyrics were almost spiritual to me. Very easy to relate to the pain they sung about...which was weird considering the word pain wasn't mentioned once on that CD.

It has since been mentioned on almost every LP CD since HT came out. If anything it can almost be argued the lyrics have become worse.

i agree it's definitely better than what we've heard so far. Alot more punk driven, and chester's screams are pretty dy-no-mite in it i have to say. But I get the complaints about the "angsty" lyrics for sure. These types of songs are never ever seen on an lp release though, so it's kind of cool to see him step out of his element here. This is the kind of music they should stick to (dbs) not the other crap we've heard so far....

I don't think I agree with that even one iota. I think MTM easily had the best lyrics, even if it wasn't the best album.

I will concede that MTM had the best lyrics of an LP album in recent memory. That doesn't change the fact that it sounded a lot like other bands and not unique like we've come to expect from LP in the past. Kinda the same symptoms we're seeing with DBS.

There's a lot riding on the next LP album for me. Let's just say that much.
