My CPU makes this loud & harsh noise everytime the computer kept switched on. Is it the internal cooling fan, or is there some major problem with the CPU? I know that cooling fans make noise, but not this loud. This one is like a drill machine!

It'd be really helpful if someone helps me out with this problem. Thanks.

Sounds like the hard drive to me...

If you can I'd look at backing up your files someplace else.

I have the same exact problem but only in the summer time when my room gets really hot. I always thought it was something wrong with the cooling fan but I have no idea how to go about fixing that.

I'm sure someone will offer their expertise, lol.

Sounds definately like the CPU overheating and the Heatsink/fan is struggling to keep up.

Try cleaning out all the dust in the computer. You can use a can of aerosol, just make sure not to get any of the liquid on any of the computer parts.

If that doesn't work, try replacing the heatsink/fan, or at least cleaning out the fan on it.

    Hmph...

I'll clean it up. Hopefully that'll resolve the problem.

It sounds like an overheating problem to me too. Another way to clean the CPU/fan would be to take the side off and use a vacuum cleaner and a paint brush, just dont ram the vacuum cleaner right in there.

failling that you could just give it a love tap, works for most electrically items, lol

I'm pretty sure that it's the CPU making a lot of noise, guys. I mean, it's just a chip. XD

Clean out the dust from your computer, and/or buy yourself more efficient+quiet fans.

And for crying out loud, don't give it a "love tap". That's just pure idiotic, and you're bound to fuck up something like your harddrive.

Yeah, the CPU doesn't make noise that I'm aware of. If the CPU overheats, and goes over the heat threshold set in the BIOS, it will automatically turn off, so it doesn't just kill itself (Although by that time if may already be damaged).

To test out where the noise is coming from, open up the side of you computer and try to pinpoint where it's coming from. Like [HARLZ] said, it could be the hard drive too. But usually hard drives will always make noise, not just when it's hot, and you might have noticed it getting slower.

On a somewhat related note, is it a Dell?
