    My picks=BOLD

A fairly good list, although IMO "Deadwing" should have been higher, "Mesmerize" should have been in the top 10 but not #1, and "Ghost Reveries" should have assumed the #1 position...but thats my opinion!

I love Nine Inch Nails, but Porcupine Tree should have been ahead of them. Fo' real.

And SOAD is great and all, but #1? Yeah right.

Indeed, and wtf is with Frances the Mute on this list?

I mean, I love it to death but it doesn't really fit in with bands like Opeth, Nile, Static-X, and Hypocrisy :p

I don't think that Static-X should've been on that list.

Agreed, Will. I find their music repetitive and pointless, really. No real substance or musicality at all. Take them out, and put some stuff like Meshuggah, Oceansize, and Dream Theater in there for good measure :D

I don't think Dream Theater belongs on that list either, personally.

Not really, they've really gone down in quality in recent years, IMO.

Casey: Images and Words and Awake are masterpieces, and I agree that their recent output may not compare to their Kevin Moore-era days...but I think that Octavarium and SFAM are very, very good if not quite up to their old standards. Right now I'd say they're at their best since Kevin Moore left the band.

    Not a bad list.

I liked the Static-X album. Think that was a good choice, and placed accordingly -- not amazing, not horrible, a little above average.

    Is Close-Up a rock/metal magazine only?

If not, LOL at not one rap album up there. 2005 was amazing for rap.

Maybe they think that's the only worthwhile rap album this year?

I think Trivium's Ascendancy should have made the list. That's an amazing album. And I agree with you guys. SOAD's good, but best album of the year?
