*Potential Spoilers* "Three high school friends gain superpowers after making an incredible discovery. Soon, though, they find their lives spinning out of control and their bond tested as they embrace their darker sides." Earlier this year the found footage super powered film Chronicle impressed some critics and audiences alike with a unique, grounded approach to the superhero genre. Maintaining an 85% reporting to Rotten Tomatoes this film leaves no dissatisfaction between critics and viewers alike. The film itself is shot in "found footage" style and makes you feel like you were apart of the story. You have these three teenage kids who get mysterious telekinetic abilities from an unknown object and we get to see what any other teenager who gets power's might do, mess with people, things, and just have fun. But what happens when the fun get's dangerous. Now your shown the downfall of these abilities, and eventually find out if you become super-hero or super-villain. Obviously this film has already been released but the reason why I'm bringing this up is because there is a potential sequel in the works. As reported from Me Movies The article goes on that the Chronicle will be a character driven story where things go progressively more crazy. Have you seen the film? If you did how do you feel about the sequel? Do you like the direction the Chronicle sequel is heading from what Max Landis said? Discuss! Side note: If you want to see the Chronicle it's not too late! As of May 15th (today), the DVD released to stores everywhere! Buy it, enjoy it, have love to it.
I really enjoyed Chronicle. There's room for a sequel imo but they have to handle the hand-held aspect properly. Let's see what they do.
Agreed completely. I thought it was also a great change from usual Hollywood endings, an ambiguous and bittersweet resolution to a situation that couldn't possibly end well. I am interested in what a "real" supervillain would be like.
Loved the film, awaiting release on DVD here in Australia (approx. this time next month). Whilst I would like a sequel, I think they'd be swimming in pretty deep water, because sometimes sequels don't always turn out as the better of the two (or more).
