Has anybody heard the new album yet? I love the direction he has taken with this. It sounds fresh and fun! But a lot of people aren't happy about the fact that he worked with Timbo. I personally don't see a problem with that though. His last album was kinda disappointing but I'm happy with this one.

    Thoughts?

I really really really did not like this album when it leaked, however I have changed my mind and really enjoy it now. I think it was great for him as an artist to step out of his norm and do something out of the box. During my first listen, I thought it was just Chris trying to sing over a Timbaland beat but that's not really it. A lot of the songs have a lot of different sounds and the transitions in between the songs are interesting. I'd give it about a 3/5. I think it's solid overall with a few less than stellar tracks.

I listened to the whole album on his myspace. I'm a sucker for beats that make me want to move (an example from the album is "Part of Me") but I refuse to like this album, lol. Trent Reznor said it best on his twitter page:

    Yeah. Pretty much.

I thought it was gonna be awesome... the idea was very promising... but it just sounds like a bad remix album. His vocals don't belong on those beats, and it's not Timbaland's best work.

Ah, Trent Reznor is awesome. He seems to have a lot to say, compared to the little he speaks when playing live with nin.

But, on topic, I liked Soundgarden a little. Although like most Grunge bands, their albums always had a little too much filler. I haven't listened to any Chris Cornell albums, but I saw him open for Linkin Park. And he was pretty good. I guess this album wouldn't be much of a starting point

ok so when he came on at PrjctRev last year, after listening to a song or 2, i decided it was the perfect opportunity to go get something to eat... Im sorry but I hated his solo stuff.... but then I listened to the stuff on his myspace from this album.... and I think if you just compare the old to the new, the old was pretty much godlike.... the mans got a great voice and should put it to some use....

I heard the song "Scream" on TV, and it sounded like a blander Nickelback.

I think Chris completely screwed up by showing how badass the songs are if you take out the Timbaland.

The song Scream at PR PWNED the album version.

Long Gone and Ground Zero were played live on Jimmy Kimmel and both were much better with a full live band.

I'm looking forward to Climbing Up the Walls' live performance. That beat will get the crowd groovin' :D
