Since I begin to develope my music interests with some Chinese music hits, I decide to post some of my favourite singers/bands song. Hope you will like. 1.Jay Chou - The Era (周杰伦-跨时代) He is an icon of Chinese music for a period of time. But things change, I decide I will use 'one of' though. The Era is one of the hit of the upcoming 10th album of Jay, and it uses a little electro music element, which is his first try with this. This is a Vampire-Themed song, and the music video kind of use the storyline of Twilight. Lyrics by Ashin, the lead vocal. Mayday is one of the most successful band here in China, and this is one of my favourite songs of them. Include in the album 'Poetry Of The Day After'. Khalil Fong - Southern Sound (方大同-南音) This guy was born in the States, have primary school in Shanghai (which is the place I live in), and live in Hong Kong now. This song is about a famous Chinese 'two-stringed Chinese fiddle' player, who is a blind man. This song uses a simple piano intro, and I just love it. This is my favourite R&B singer in China. Jacky Xue - Yellow Maple Leaves (薛之谦-黄色枫叶) Here comes a local singer of my city, Shanghai. He was the top three of a local 'XX Idol' or 'XX Got Talent' show, and this is my favourite song of him among all the songs he has ever made. This song is about to leave his lover because of war. And a Yellow Maple Leaf is their promise. A really moving love story. Feel free to comment, or give more recommendations though. - A.Starkson
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mLP4CkHy9iE LMF - Dai Lan Tong One of my favourites out of HK; the hip hop kingpins of HK. I'll look for more to recommend, but that's all i can think of, off the top of my head. Having a major headache from a bottle of Cap. Morgans right now T_T.
Jay Chou will always be a superstar in China. I got into him about the time that November Chopin came out. All of his albums are solid. One of my favorite songs by him is All the Way North from the Initial D Soundtrack:
One of the rising HK artists out there is G.E.M. Her songs are pretty good; this example is Where Did You Go (an older song, but still fairly good). And of course, there are the classic artists like Hacken Lee (李克勤) and his famous hits like Red Sun and Victory (which is fun to karaoke). Eason Chan is one of my top artists as well. The one thing I hate about the HK music industry these days is the influx of actors/actresses from TVB...they simply cannot sing and should've stuck with acting.
This should take you guys back. I'm more of an old school chinese music enthusiast.
Haha, man, I can be more old school...More old? But seriously, I like this song. And another classical song..talking about my city. Man am I too young for this?
Truly some historical classics there Astarkson! In regards to the first song, my girlfriend and I have danced to that song; it's lovely.
