Rapper, Comedian, Actor. Hes kinda blowing up right now. He has two albums Culdesac and Camp and has an EP simply titled EP. His real name is Donald Glover and has a comedy special called Weirdo on Comedy central. His music is pretty dope and I can't find a thread for him so I thought Id make one.
I don't like Camp, but his mixtapes are pretty awesome. Never thought I'd hear a rapper do a song over a Sleigh Bells track.
Didn't like Camp at all, can't say I liked the dramatic/symphonic production on the EP, and I don't think his stand up is all that funny. But Troy and Community rules.
When I first heard Freaks and Geeks, I was like "Hell yeah!", then I heard everything else and was like "What the fuck is this shit?" I totally wanted to like him, but I think he's a mediocre lyricist at best besides a few punchlines. I feel like a clever 15 year old could write a lot of his rhymes. He is a dope singer though...and like everyone else, he is dope as Troy. He shines more as a comedic actor than anything else
I really liked Bonfire and some other songs off of Camp. I think he's pretty good. The guy is mad funny though if you watch the old Derrick Comedy skits and the movie Mystery Team.
I remember the very first time I saw him was in some old College Humor videos. He was the best one. Seeing this dude in a couple weeks. He's become one of my favorite rap artists very quickly. I love his work. Also, go watch some of his stand-up, because it's fucking hilarious.
He's my second favorite rapper after Eminem. He's the rapper who turned me off of mediocre radio rap like Drake and T.I. and onto more lyrical stuff, like Nas and Lupe. Camp is actually one of 4 albums I've ever bought (I'm more into singles). The other ones being Hybrid Theory, Living Things, and Rage Against The Machine's self-titled.
