In a recent interview with the Australian Herald Sun newspaper, Linkin Park frontman Chester Bennington and drummer Rob Bourdon discuss a variety of topics.

    On fans growing older:

"CB: There's one girl in particular that we ran into. Rob leaned over to me and said, "Wasn't she like an original fan-club kid?" And I go "Yeah, she was in high school, she was a little girl when we met her".

She's been to probably 30 meet and greets. She came with her boyfriend and her daughter, and she's all grown up, she's a woman now. It's like, you recognise them but you kind of don't -- they're not kids any more. It does make me go "Oh yeah, I do have some grey hairs and I have to trim my nose hair now . . ." We're getting older. I have a litter of children myself. It's fun to watch it happen."

On touring with more established opening acts:

"CB: Yeah, it's weird. There are certain groups that haven't been around as long as we have, and we feel like, OK, this is our place. But when you have Chris Cornell opening for you, it feels disrespectful to a certain degree (laughs)."

And on the next Linkin Park album:

"CB: It won't take as long. Unless we literally don't do anything for a couple of years, we're gonna kick one out fairly quickly.

RB: Yeah, this record took a long time because there was a lot of experimenting and we learned a lot. We have some great ideas still lingering that we can go back to and re-address and get a record out a lot sooner next time."

Check out the full interview here!

Thanks to Mitch and sarcasm_mister for the news!

    What can you do though?

Cornell is amazing, but in truth, he's getting towards being a bit of a has-been.
He's lucky to get the kind of exposure opening for LP gave him.

I think I said this back when LP did the Australian tour, but I'll say it again: Chris Cornell as a solo artist really isn't going to play to very many people as a headlining act. If Chris Cornell tours the U.S. as a headliner, he'll be playing places like House of Blues. On the other hand, if Chris Cornell tours the U.S. as a headliner with Audioslave or Soundgarden, he'll be playing big arenas. There's a lot in a name when it comes to well-established bands. Sure, he's been around a lot longer than LP has and probably deserves a lot more respect, but it'd be dumb of him to turn down opening for them, just because it allows him to play to more people.

It's kinda like David Gilmour as a solo artist vs. David Gilmour, frontman of Pink Floyd, to a lesser extent.

It's good to know that they're already thinking about the upcoming album.

    That's a good point.
Chester obviously isn't totally focused on DBS or anything.

awesome news... here's hoping to new LP in 2009! *crosses fingers*

would be great. 2008 is summer of LP, Dead By Sunrise in fall then small tour like fort Minor did through March, get into the studio and release new LP in October/November of '09 or maybe just push it to Spring 2010

    heres to hoping

And the awesome follow-up to Minutes To Midnight... Seconds To Midnight! And completing the trilogy is Midnight.

Followed by Minutes After Midnight, Hours After Midnight, and Why The Fuck Are You Still Awake?

If we had a rep system I would so rep this.

But now I'm wondering if there will be a filler between Minutes To Midnight and the fourth album like what they always do traditionally. If they want to pump out a new album it'll probably be like a live album or something.

I suppose that's because most of the work has been done for the DBS album.

Nice, that was really an awesome interview for once. Great questions, and great answers from Chaz & Rob.

It's even more awesome to know their already thinking about the 4th album. but it dose seem that chester has forgot about DBS for the moment XD

I actually don't really care about DBS. I could be good, but I'd much rather hear
new LP stuff any day. New Fort Minor would also be great.

    Overall, a cool interview. :)
