When did Chester officially quit drinking? I know he used to be into hard drugs and alcohol way before the Hybrid Theory days, but I know he fell back into full force with them during 2005 when he got divorced and throughout 2006 as well. But did he quit in early 2007 before MTM was released? Or after MTM was released?

He quit around the time Out Of Ashes was being recorded (around 2008). Many of the songs from that album revolve around what he was going through at the time.

Meteora had just come out. As he sat there listening to what he had helped create, he thought to himself, "My God. What have I done?!"

After accounting for the horrors he had unleashed upon the world, Chester walked out of rehab a sober man.

Idk, cuz in the BBC Radio interview from 2007 he said he had quit drinking. I always thought it was 2007 but I wasn't sure.

Apparently he relapsed a few times over the years.

He seems to be more religious now as well. Good for him :)

Although it's really not our policy to discuss the personal lives of band members, for the sake of answering this question (and moving on, because it's Chester's private life) Chester relapsed around the time Out of Ashes was being recorded and started drinking a lot and hanging out with people he shouldn't have that enabled this kind of behavior. Pretty much, it came down to both the band (LP) and his wife staging an intervention for Chester to turn his life around. He realized he was going down the wrong path (hence the lyrics to Crawl Back In) and since then has become sober and more religious than he ever was. He revealed all this in an interview around the time his solo album came out.

Wow, how did that interview slip my radar! Crazy. Glad that he turned things around for himself.

I've seen people with alcohol problems before. It's very hard on them and those around them. I'm glad Chester got the help he needed because most are not so lucky.

I had no idea he had all of these problems post Meteora. I guess this band was as close to breaking up (or just losing Chester) as you possibly could be. Wow.

I knew he had those issues, just not the exact specifics. I did know that he was able to quit around the MTM (or apparently a little later) time, and I have a lot of respect for him for that.

I think what he meant during the 'intervention' interview is that was all in 2005, 2006 and early 2007. I'm almost positive that he quit drinking around the time of MTM being released and has been sober since. All the songs on the DBS record were written in 2005-2006, they were just recorded in 2008 and he did a couple songs 'Fire, Condemned and Inside Of Me' in 2008 because Howard wanted some big rock songs. Basically if he relapsed when Out Of Ashes was being released, that was after Projekt Revolution 2008 and I don't think that is true.

That's one thing I love about LP. They always have each others back, even if it means a smack on the back of their head once in a while. They won't just stand there is see one of them fall without picking them up.

I remember reading those interviews sometime after listening to "Out Of Ashes". It really made me appreciate the album a lot more after reading what the album meant to Chester. Makes for great therapy.

I agree. Mike is a great guy, and so isn't the rest of LP. They probably had Chester's back throughout his divorce and his drug and drinking problems and everything. And it worked out for the greater good, they want on to tour hugely off of MTM, sell a lot of records with it, and then make an amazing album such as ATS and sell a lot and tour with it again as well. And now Chester is completely sober and he also found God. LP is top notch right now.
