One of the biggest reasons I fell in love with Hybrid Theory and Linkin Park way back in the day was the amazing synergy between Mike and Chester with Mike's rapping often being the more aggressive mirror to Chester's emotional singing and screams. I haven't felt like they had captured it as fluidly in any album since (you could argue for From the Inside on Meteora though) Hybrid Theory. Even with ATS, which I love, their chemistry didn't feel as great. But, oh my, on Living Things they've taken things to a new level. Mike's rapping is the best it's been in years. He went rapid fire on LITE, BID and LGM like he hasn't since HT and Meteora. He's perfected that 90's east coast flow he's dabbled in since Collision Course and the Rising Tied on Victimized and the second verse of UIB. He even threw in some reggae Shinoda again on the first verse of UIB . When you combine that with Chester's always brilliant singing and Mike's rapidly improving vocals (which brings a new emotional element to songs that not even Chester can) it adds a new dimension to this band that no other band can match. Linkin Park may not be the greatest band in the world but it's possible to argue that they are the most versatile we've seen in a long time (if not ever). And with ATS and LT now I think it's possible to say they are the most underrated band going right now, and part of that has to do with what Mike and Chester are bringing to the table at their peaks as musicians in addition to the experimental instrumentals and strong structures the band has added to their toolbox.
