It seems this remake of "Willy Wonka and the chocolate factory" seems pretty awesome.
    The trailors are awesome.
Johnny Depp does a really good role (thats what I heard and shows it in the reviews).
What do you think of this movie?

I thought the remake was terrible. The original was better by far. Johnny Depp sucked and was too awkward. But the thing that made me extremely mad.. was the Oompa Loopas. What a joke. The computer animation to use 1 as all of them was just garbage and the songs were just disgusting. The best part of the movie to me was when the chocolate palace was melting and it looked like someone was taking a shit on the girls face. That whole scene with the palace creation should have been cut from the movie though. It was out of place and didn't need to be put in.
side note: I was forced to go see this movie against my own will.
    I give the remake a 1/5.
    Original owns remake.

I refuse to see this film because the umpa lumpa's are no longer orange. I don't care how good the movie is.

It's okay. I guess people love it because it's one of those cultish things that you can quote and stuff.

What you people need to understand is that this one was NOT made to be a remake of the old movie. It is an adaptation of the book and is more accurate to the story than the old movie.

perhaps....its just Johnny Depps interpretation of Willy Wonka seemed insincere to me.....its a pretty film to look at....but I still love the original much much more

I loved this when i watched it. I thought Jonny Depp played a great Willy Wonka. This was far quirkier and darker than the original. I don't know whether this was Tim Burtons influence or whether because it was more true to the book, they made it darker. I dunno though, i've never read the book.

I was a bit annoyed that the Ommpa Loompas were COMPLETELY different and were played by the same guy but hey.

Overall i'd give it a 8.7/10 (yes, very precise)

Don't pay to see it if you don't like quirkiness

I hate how people think that Johnny Depp was too "awkward".

    He was supposed to be.

    And, spoiler warning:

I mean, that's why he chokes on the word "parents". His own father hated candy so much (duh, dentist) that Charlie did the normal teenage-rebellion and ran away. Never saw his dad again. So of course, due to the horrible relationship gap there, it's a bit faltered.

Hell, I even choke on the word "father", and I have a relationship with my dad, so what that its only a phone call once in a while.

And the Oompa Loompas are SUPPOSED to be Island looking.

If anyone hasn't noticed, the "original" Willy Wonka was an ACID TRIP of a movie.

This movie is basically a great adaptation of the book, you learn more about Willy Wonka's past, not to mention it's going by the PROPER TITLE.

Bah to "pop-culture purists", I say.

My girlfriend saw it [I love you, Steph!] and she loved it. Maybe 'cause it was funny, maybe 'cause it had a good storyline, maybe 'cause she has such a huge crush on Johny Depp, the mystery may never be solved!

Well i think that they only remade it so they could make a sequel, coz the kids fro the original are 2 old now (obviously) :wth:

It wasn't a sequel. Sequels progress the storyline into the future after the original. This was a re-adaptation.

At least .... my younger brother has.

I quite liked the movie. Johnny Depp played an awesome Willy Wonka, and Charlie was spot-on. Grandpa Joe was weird (especially when he started dancing :wth: ). The Oompa-Loompa's songs, honestly, sucked. But they were ... painfully .... cute.

All in all, I thought this was a decent movie.
