I've got a problem and I've got no idea how to solve it. I've also got no idea how to search for the problem myself, otherwise I wouldn't be posting this.

I've got two CD drives (one's a CD+RW/DVD combo drive, the other's a basic CD+RW drive), but I removed one yesterday (with my PC off, mind) and replaced it some time today, yet neither drive is registering with my computer.

The hardware manager reports that the CD+RW/DVD combo drive can't start, and it's refusing to recognize the second drive at all.

Before this, my PC recognized both drives as one drive, and when I'd right-click and select "Eject..." on drive F: (the letter the CD+RW/DVD combo drive had been assigned), both drives opened as though the computer thought they were one drive.

I've rearranged the tape inside the computer (or whatever the tape's called); the complete end of the tape is connected to the CD+RW/DVD combo drive, the only drive my computer will recognize; the middle connector is connected to the second drive.

I've got no idea what the problem is, so I'm asking for your (read: Tomi, Todd, or Neil) help. It's not a pertinent problem that needs solving right away, but I'd like to be able to use my damn disc drives sooner rather than later.

    Edit-
I've solved the problem. For some reason, my computer just wasn't detecting the second hard drive. I switched the jumper to "slave" and my computer detected it right away. So no help is needed anymore.
