Okay. I really need to get a new amplifier for my guitar (Ibanez Artcore AM73) and I'm just wondering what you guitar players think that the best amp to get would be. I've got up to around £250 (or 471 US Dollars) to spend.

So yeah, any suggestions on which amp I should get would be a real help.

Just so you know, I'll be playing mainly punk and some metal stuff.

    Thankies :D

EDIT: I was thinking something like the Line 6 Spider II 112 or 212

The Line 6 Spider II is pretty good, but I've heard that if you play it too loud too often, the sound blows out because it's digital. IMO, they have pretty good distortion for playing metal, plus the effects. I'd also recommend a Crate basically, anything from them is more or less a good amp.

If the Line 6 is what you were leaning toward, go ahead and buy it. I'm sure you'd like it.

I have a Line 6 15 Watt, and its pretty good, but it only goes like 15% volume then it makes a very loud screeching noise

Just out of curiousity, I've heard that Ibanez's guitars are shit even though their basses are top notch - what do you think of yours?

^ I own an Ibanez AX 7-string guitar and it's just fine. Intonation on it could be better, but it was only like $340 so it's not top-of-the-line or anything. I think most of the people who say Ibanez guitars suck are saying that because a lot of them have floating tremolo bridges on them, which go out of tune very easily unless you know how to set one up and modify it correctly.

But anyway, on the amp topic, you can't go wrong with a mid-sized Fender combo amp. Something like this should probably do the job.

My friend had both an Ibanez bass and electric guitar, and the bass was far superior to the guitar. As a matter of fact, the guitar started falling apart within six months of its purchase. Granted, it was from a "starter kit," but a guitar shouldn't fall apart period. I think the only way you'd get a decent Ibanez guitar is by having one custom-built or by buying one of the really expensive guitars that they have.

As for the amp, Kustom's a good brand. My friend's got a Kustom amp and it's super. I'm not sure how many amps it is. I think it's something like 160 amps. I don't know, I don't remember. I'd check, but, you know, it's not here. I think it was around $300 US.

    Edit—
Man, I had no idea what I was talking about. It's 60 watts, not 160 amps.

Okay. Thanks a lot for the help guys.

*Reads up on the amps you've all suggested*

    :)

EDIT: @Tomi - I'm completely happy with my Ibanez to be honest. I've had no problems with it and it hasn't fallen to pieces, yet anyway. Then again, I don't really understand what better guitars are like 'cause I'm too cheap to buy one haha.

If you ever decided to buy a new guitar, check out ESP and Jackson. They manufacture some really sturdy and long-lasting guitars with some killer designs.

Oh, I have a Kustom amp as well, it's not much - 10 watts - but it does the job pretty well. :)

    Kustom KBA10, if you're curious.
