It could have been a lot better. Especially on Mike's background vocals. Here is an example: http://snd.sc/I0HVZi Why are Mike's vocals so low in the mix? This alone could have made the song 2x better imo and if this is Manny's addition, well then color me unimpressed. On the other hand if this is just one poorly mixed track out of 12 and is just a fluke then maybe I do have something to be excited about with LIVING THINGS after all. Anyway, I believe that Mike's singing here is really good, and the way that he ends the clip is amazing and I think that it is such a shame that it's so overshadowed by Chester's vocals (which are top notch also). But Mike just seems to have more sincerity, somehow... (BTW sorry if posting this clip is not allowed. Please feel free to remove it) Thoughts?
I tend to agree. I've always liked Mikes voice (surprisingly since In Between is one of my favourite songs) and I reckon I would like BID a little more if his vocals were mixed a little higher.
I think ATS had the worst mixing out of any other LP albums. It was so rushed, and the EQ was terribly done. All the songs sounded quite flat, especially the Catalyst. Better post-production would've made the album shine to a whole new level (Even if it's still amazing).
I didn't know he was singing in the song either... well, I'm waiting for the live version. Because, the guitars in the song are amazing, but because of the heavy synth you can barely hear them. I think they'll be louder live. Here's how they sound like: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MnuJjfOB2eE (also watch some other videos from this guy, he's awesome). They might as well just kick out Phoenix.
Yeah, I think it should just be a standard that all of their future songs must have harmonies as noticeable as the second verse of WFTE. That would make them all so jizzmatic.
