You can't lie. You were little once too. If any of you even think about coming in here and saying, "I never listened to boy bands, they suck!" you're lying to us and you're lying to yourself. You know it. Look inside you, and there's probably a part of you that cherishes the memory of Backstreet Boys, N*Sync, or whatever you were into back in the day. This thread is for those classic pop songs of the past decade.

That and any boy band song is instant karaoke material. I dare you to play any boy band song in a car full of WHOEVER, and see what happens.

And on that note, here's a music video for you. One of my favorite Backstreet Boys songs ever:

Let the inner child out, and we shall reminisce.

The first album I ever owned was a Human Nature one. Can't quite remember which one though.

    Good times, good times.

The sad thing is I'm being perfectly serious.

Boy Bands of the 90s, as much as it will destroy my street cred, made fucking awesome music.

I still listen to and enjoy the Backstreet Boys. They were my favorite artist for the longest time and I still think all of their records are outstanding. As far as I'm concerned they were the best boy band to have existed when they were popular.

I never could get into 'N Sync though. They had some good songs but I think their first record is their only good one. The best thing to happen to them was Justin Timberlake's solo career.

The others seemed to be knock-offs to me. The most prominent was 98 Degrees. They had some good songs but as with 'N Sync the only good thing to come from 98 Degrees was Nick Lachey's solo career.

I guess you could sort of count LFO as a boy band even though they weren't really. I enjoyed them though. "Summer Girls" is a classic.

5ive is another boy band I liked a lot. They were a lot of fun to listen to. Something about them was really cool. I still go crazy when I hear "Slam Dunk (Da Funk)".

I'll be the first to admit I loved O-Town even though they were the most blatantly manufactured boy band from the era. It was a shame they broke up. They could've had a long career like the Backstreet Boys.

Now I've got to go listen to my Backstreet Boys discography.

The Backstreet Boys have done a great job at staying relevant recently. Never Gone is probably the DEFINITIVE break-up CD.

Where BSB and N*Sync differed to me was that BSB was tailored more toward the powerpop ballad crowd, while N*Sync was tailored more for R&B and hip-hop, which was timed perfectly with the rise of hip-hop on popular radio. Hence why they became more popular.

    As for me, BSBFTW.

The Backstreet Boys are still my favorite boy band.

I think what bothered me about 'N Sync was that they seemed to try too hard. And also it seemed as though it was the J.C. & Justin Five rather than a group effort.

Not that the Backstreet Boys doled out parts equally. But at least all their vocalists contributed more than 'N Sync's vocalists.

Howie's solo song, "How Did I Fall in Love with You?", is still one of my favorite Backstreet Boys songs. On the other hand Nick's solo song, "I Need You Tonight", wasn't all that great. It was good, just not great.

To be fair, that's a totally different thread altogether.

    B*Witched takes that crown.

I never liked the Spice Girls.

B*Witched only ever had one good song, "C'est la Vie". I was just kidding when I said they'd take the crown.

I never really liked any girl bands.

You can make the Girl Power Appreciation Thread if you want.

    I'll definitely post in it.

Boybands! YAY! As much as I love my hard rock music, 90's boybands will remain to own my soul. The fact I am seeing The Backstreet Boys live in Birmingham next month just goes to show how much I still love them. On a random note, my Mum got BSB's new album for her birthday, and it's actually fantastic. Come on guys  Even if you didn't like the boybands, you gotta admit, they did some classics at the time. Boybands are the reason the 90's rule and 00's suck in terms of pop music.

 Each to his own I guess :p

My sister liked boybands but I actually didn't listen to them at all. Except "Backstreets Back" 'cause that song was ace

I don't think I ever really listened to that music however I did listen to one of the B*Witched albums a lot. Infact I think they're the only 90's pop group I ever really listened to.

Edit: It was B*Witched self titled I listened to btw  I used to listen to it while playing Little Big Adventure

You're seeing them live? I HATE YOUR FACE.

Their new album is okaaaaaay.... it's still a great album but it doesn't hold a candle to Never Gone.

I mean seriously, Inconsolable's chorus starts off like this:

'I don't wanna waste another day..."

and Something I Already Know, the track right afterwards, has a chorus that starts off...:

"I don't wanna wait another minute..."

And the melody for those phrases is almost the same. It's eerie and weird. It also doesn't help that those two tracks are right next to each other.

EDIT: However, 'Helpless When She Smiles' is fucking ace.
