I love all the tracks off of this album!! As for Blackout, I don't quite get the meaning of the song. What's your inference?
They meaning just sounds like a run of the mill "You went and made me mad asshole(" Linkin Park song to me, actually.
To be honest with you, in the whole context of the album, I can't really see what the song means. On its own it's just another Linkin Park song lyrically, but it's still pretty unconventional musically considering the structure and the fact that Chester is rapping the versus and screaming the chorus.
In context of the whole album, I am absoultely clueless, Louis. I hope someone has a feel to this song to tell us what it's really about.. I like when Mike drops in, gives me chills every single time!
I understand it completely. It actually ties right into the album. If you look at it from the perspective of him talking to an individual, then yes, it wouldnt make sense. Talking to a group of people (we the people, society in general) than it makes sense. Listen to the lyrics: "You say that it's not your fault And swear that I am mistaken You said it's not what it seems No remorse for the trust you're breaking You run but then back you fall Suffocate in the mess you're making You can't get enough you take And take and take and take Fuck it Are you listening? No!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" When I first heard it I thought Government propaganda and the self destruction of society and the singers reflection of the chaos surrounding it.
Dont get me wrong, I completely agree with you. I think the music can take on many different meanings. Its all in the eye of the beholder.
apaarently..this song ..kinda..i think is..when ur lost, and ur mind is insane...cant just put things together..u've no faith in ppl around you...everythin is a failure..then the endin part..mostly by a friend..who tries to resurrect you frm the dead....promising to figure a way out.. a trauma or somethin similar myt hav lead the person in dis situation..
3 ways to think about a song's meaning? Mike said, the bad message of the album is "screw you old fan, we've moved on", but is not the only message of the album.
The other night, I was pretty much thinking the same. It's most prominent considering the name "Blackout" and the two parts to the song- the rage part and the time-to-move-on part.
I mean, Shinoda and Chester have always written lyrics that have been left open for the listener to interpret for themselves, so that's not some new idea they just brought out for this new album.
I've always thought this song is similar to No More Sorrow. lol You sing this song for all those greedy folks up there.
