Birdsong Every night, when the sun goes down, The stars rise from grace to bow to her beauty. When the light of the sun finally fades from the sky, The stars shine to try to match the intensity of the burning light. When the moon becomes jealous of the sun’s light, It does not shine in the night’s sky. Instead, the moon hides from the stars So that its jealously is not apparent. However, when the moon is not jealous of the beauty of the sun, It shows its face so the entire world can see it And she, too, shines with a resounding light That brings a smile to the face of every sky watcher. When the earth becomes jealous of the light of the sun, It sends clouds into the sky to block the light of the stars So that mankind cannot see the stars And how they bow down before the sun. Sometimes, too, the shadows of the earth block out the moon So that mankind cannot see the moon And the light given to it by the sun. The sun gives its light to the moon because the moon cannot shine on its own, But because the moon has shown its appreciation, The sun gives light to the moon without worrying If the moon is going to owe it a favour. During the day, when the sun shines its brightest, The earth will still get jealous of the beauty of the light That is being bestowed upon its rocky, watery surface. Even though the earth knows that it can’t be lit without the light of the sun, It will still block the light with clouds. And although the earth puts the clouds high into the sky, The power of the sunlight forces its way through And eventually tears the clouds to shreds And the earth sees another clear day where the sun shines bright. This is when the birds in the trees will sing their songs.
Very descriptive, Will. From reading this I can definitely get an image in my mind from what you wrote. 10/10.
