I think with Gore Verbinski directing it should be good.

This would be amazing in IMAX. Especially if they get the atmosphere of the game right.

    No. Just... NO! NO!

You know what made Bioshock special? The first person experience: not knowing how or why you ended up in Rapture and the eventual reveal that followed. You cannot replicate those emotions and you cannot replicate that sense of betrayal through a third person perspective. The reason Bioshock was praised so much was immersion, not how cinematic it was... in fact there were hardly any cutscenes in Bioshock... everything was done to you in real time and you participated in the story. Removing the participation factor reduces Bioshock to just another mediocre story.

Stupid move. I don't care who is writing and/or directing. It's always "We're dedicated to making this film as close to the source material as possible," leaving out "as long as Hollywood approves." Look at Silent Hill, probably one of the closest you're going to get to "source material" and it was still campy as hell while disregarding what made Silent Hill special. It substituted scream-gags and action scenes for a spooky and creepy ambience. Do you really think it'll be any different for Bioshock? I'm going to go ahead and say NO.

Bioshock's probably one of my favorite gaming experiences of recent times and it's a shame I have little to no faith that they'll do a proper adaptation. But I'll admit I was wrong if they can prove me wrong. I'm not going to hold my breath, though. Such a shame, though... :(

I agree. It may well be a good film in its own right but you'll never be able to do games like Bioshock and Hitman justice when adapting them to film
