    Beware the Soul [v1]

    They watch with faultless hope
Long they have looked after the garden
In the warmth of the night’s air their passion floats
While the perpetual words of treachery play again

Spilt reality into realms, you fall here, between life’s seams
The chilling stone statues of angles and demons wait
They are choked by the arms of ivy, and carved by sightless fiends
Thorns and thistles line overgrown paths to a rusty old gate

And beyond the rust and the crying call of a single hinge
And into the stale laden air, there is a soul that waits for you
Plucked from the fire of hell, it smells of sulfur, and body singed
Redemption is but a single grasp away, what will you do?

Voices whisper alluring snares; the eyes of the statues come alive
“Beware the soul”, “Beware the soul” they hiss from guileful lips
They wish you to leave, to return to bondage, into the hornets hive
But your soul awaits, do you not see the eyes and the tears it drips

“Beware the soul! For it shall enslave you, and tyranny will taunt you”
Worry not, for the soul is truth, and the words of the statues are poison
So why do you heed their call, crawling back in a world that has fallen through
“Beware the soul!” they sing, and thus you regress into a tasteless prison

    They watch with faultless hope
Long they have looked after your garden
In the warmth of the night’s air their passion floats
While your perpetual words of treachery play again
