Mike is a good singer ,
    but not in my top.
His voice is different when singing comared to rapping or even just talking.
If he had a singing voice same as his rapping voice,,,,he would have killed every other vocalist out there :p
But i still like his singing n i never wish he stops singing, NRL effin rocks.

How has this thread gone 4 pages without anyone mentioning the real greats like Jim Morrison or Robert Plant? The vocalists some of you posted are good, but they don't hold a candle to many of the classic rock vocalists from the 60s and 70s.

I noticed my comment had already been made, so I've taken this top bit out xD
I think that Casey Crescenzo (The Dear Huntetr/Ex-Receiving End Of Sirens) is insanely good .

I agree with Plant, but in my opinion Morrison is overrated. I mean, was a great frontman, but not much of a great voice,

Back from the old days I'd mention Ian Gillan (Deep Purple), Glenn Hughes, David Coverdale (Whitesnake), Rob Halford (Judas Priest), Bruce Dickinson (Iron Maiden), and, of course, this guy:

Currently, my favorite vocalist is M. Ward. From his solo stuff, to She & Him, to Monsters of Folk.. Such a somber voice, but with alot of passion behind it. It's incredible. Maybe I'm the only one that hears this, since he's talked up more as a great guitarist than a vocalist.

All-time? Of course, Trent Reznor. I'm not even going to go into why, I could write a thesis on why I think he's the all time best. But, I am just a fanboy.

As for "classic" vocalists, like Todd mentioned. Eric Clapton has gotta be up there somewhere, right? Bob Dylan? Chuck Berry? What about some Elton John? I kinda like Phil Collins, too.

    This. Jim Morrison was amazing.

And I have noticed an over all lack of females here too. Janis Joplin? Aretha Franklin? Tina Turner? Grace Slick?

I only posted vocalists for modern rock bands...if I were to go into everyone else through history who I think had an amazing voice then I'd be here for hours trying not to miss anyone out. :p

I love the Lizard King, but most classic rock singers have been worshiped incessantly by every predictable, two-bit rock journalist for 40-plus years. It's redundant.

Now, if someone wants to list a few obscure, under-appreciated singers from years ago, that would be fun.

Yeah this thread from a "best" vocalist to favorite vocalist. While I respect all the legends of the past. They aren't my favorites

No Tori Amos?? Who hacked your account, babe??

No open thread is a "best" vocalist thread. If anybody came in here thinking the vocalists they had in mind were "best", they had the wrong intentions. It's purely a matter of preference and opinion.
