Hello Guys, I'm sure this thread has been made at some point in LPA's lifetime (Probably by me too ) but I was unable to find a recent thread so I felt it would be more appropriate to make a new one. The reason I decided to make this a thread is because my friend is a huge Linkin Park fan but hasn't heard a lot of the unofficial songs from Linkin Park so I decided to make a mixtape for him because I truly believe he is missing out on some great songs. He's heard a few like Across the Line and Blackbirds from me before but not most of them. When making this mixtape I thought this would be a good idea for a thread on LPA as well to see what everyone opinions are! So my question to you guys is the following: If you were to make a mixtape or a "best of" for Linkin Park's demos, features, and other songs, what would you include? Below is my list and the tracklist I made for the mixtape for my friend. Note, I just copy and pasted the tracklist that I had from a word document which I why it says where all the songs come from, that part is obviously optional LINKIN PARK- DEMOS MIXTAPE [NOT IN ORDER OF FAVORITES] 1. Across The Line (Minutes to Midnight Demo) 2. Blackbirds (Minutes to Midnight Demo) 3. Animals (Living Things Demo) 4. Dedicated (1999 Demo) 5. Wish (Live) [Nine Inch Nails Cover] 6. Slip (Hybrid Theory Demo) 7. Blue (Hybrid Theory Demo) 8. Asbestos (Minutes to Midnight Demo) 9. So Far Away (Hybrid Theory Demo) 10. It’s Going Down (Feat. X-Ecutioners) 11. Unreleased (With The Visionaries) 12. What We Don’t Know (Minutes to Midnight Demo) 13. I Have Not Begun (A Thousand Suns Demo) 14. It Goes Through (2009 Demo) 15. Chance of Rain (Minutes to Midnight Demo) 16. Can’t Hurt Me (The Hunting Party Demo) 17. Reading My Eyes (Live) [Xero Demo] 18. Closing (Xero Demo) 19. A Light That Never Comes (With Steve Aoki) 20. She Couldn’t (Hybrid Theory Demo) 21. Qwerty (Minutes to Midnight Demo) 22. White Noise (The Hunting Party Demo) I should note "Not Alone" would make this list but I personally view it as an official song.
This is fun. I'll do a 12 song tracklist, like a normal CD by LP would have. I don't know all of LP's unreleased songs, I'm still learning them all, but I like these ones. 01. A.06 (Meteora Demo) 02. Qwerty (Minutes To Midnight Demo) 03. It Goes Through (A Thousand Suns Demo) 04. Across The Line (Minutes To Midnight Demo) 05. Blackbirds (Minutes To Midnight Demo) 06. White Noise (The Hunting Party Demo) 07. Slip (Hybrid Theory Demo) 08. My December (Hybrid Theory Demo) 09. She Couldn't (Hybrid Theory Demo) 10. No Roads Left (Minutes To Midnight Demo) 11. Pale (Minutes To Midnight Demo) 12. Devil's Drop (Living Things Demo)
All of them is the easy answer, but I think there should be a limit. If I had to choose 12, I'd do a hip hop mixtape: Linkin Park: The Hip Hop Mixtape 1. Slip 2. Blue 3. Dedicated 4. Drop 5. Fiends 6. It's Going Down 7. Unreleased (Ft. The Visionaries) 8. I Have Not Begun 9. Like Riding A Bike (Ft. Hot Karl, Abnormal and Intuition) 10. Rock'N Roll Part 2 11. We Made It (Ft. Busta Rhymes) 12. Closing
Really solid list! I wouldn't count HTEP and My December/High Voltage myself in this category but I don't blame anyone for including them. This would be a really good album if it was an album.
Probably most of the MTM stuff. I'll do 12 or it's too easy: 1. Blackbirds 2. Across the Line 3. QWERTY 4. Pretend to Be 5. Dedicated 6. She Couldn't 7. Chance of Rain 8. Carousel 9. We Made It 10. ALTNC 11. Devil's Drop 12. Part of Me (with the outro thingy) I definitely would include Primo if it was a little more finished, but something about it feels really demo-ish and unpolished to me. I still think it's amazing tho.
Pretend to Be What We Don't Know Not Alone Issho ni No Roads Left Primo High Voltage Remix My December The Last Line Halo
Primo Pretend To Be No Roads Left Dedicated Debris It's Going Down Qwerty What We Don't Know Chance Of Rain Devil's Drop
Since everyone is doing 12 tracks, I'll narrow it down to my favorites and try to order it. 1. What We Don't Know 2. Across the Line 3. Qwerty (Live) 4. White Noise 5. Blackbirds 6. Animals 7. She Couldn't 8. Dedicated 9. It Goes Through 10. Chance of Rain Minutes to Midnight could have been the best album of all time.
In no real order, going with 12 tracks: Basquiat Across the Line What We Don't Know Three Band Terror Blackbirds Devil's Drop She Couldn't Issho Ni It Goes Through The Last Line No Roads Left Primo
Just a rough: "Burberry" "ANIMALS" "Heartburn" "Three Band Terror" "White Noise" "Final Masquerade" (Acoustic) "Issho Ni" "Not Alone" "Devil's Drop" "The Catalyst" (Demo) "Robot Boy" (Test Mix, Optional Vocal Take) "Symphonies Of Light Reprise"
You know, when all of a sudden they started calling this a 2015 demo, I was really hoping that it'd show up on the new album in some form, reworked or just as a part of the track. Unfortunately...
I read something about this, that it is not a 2015 demo, but it says 2015 Demo on the LPU 16 CD track listing. To me it sounds like music from A Thousand Suns. But it is true, they could have made it into a full song. Sometimes I wonder what a lot of the instrumental unreleased songs would sound like if they were completed. Anyways, I agree with Deliveranze, you don't want to have too much tracks on one mix for your friend, that's why I did 12, and also to follow LP's usual format of 12 songs on most albums.
Across The Line Blackbirds What We Don’t Know These are probably my favourite LP Demos, Blackbirds and What We Don´t Know are just masterpieces which could have been released in a previous album or could be released in an upcoming one, I´d be happy with the idea of a Demo album, but would also be satisfied if LP explored another genre, for example Symphonic Metal, which is a genre I listen to a lot apart from Nu Metal and some Alternative Rock/Post-Grunge,
"Burberry" was originally titled "Space Station", and was relased back in 2012 as part of Mike's Stagelight projects. "Space Station" is almost three minutes long and I've been wishing for a while that the band/Shinoda do something with it. It's way too good to be buried so deep that even the core fanbase is unfamiliar with it.
