I like both of them, but Mike is more creative in front of the croud- he talks to them, get them ready for a big scream or when he arranges the pit (this is how it's called, right ? ;- when you get into a circle and get pushed aside...)
I can't get enough of Chester's screams live, especially when he joins in and screams while Mike's rapping. Best part is when he does this in either A Place For My Head or Papercut. :chemist:
They both contribute to become an incredible live act. But I'd give a small edge to Chester. You have to have one hell of a vocal capacity to be able to scream like that every night. I'm surprised he's never cancelled a show from a sore throat/hoarse voice. I mean, listen to "A Place For My Head", "Don't Stay", "Faint", "By Myself", and "From The Inside". How can a human being be able to do that at hundreds of shows a year without losing his voice completely? And it's constantly meticulous. Not to mention that he smokes and drinks, that affects people's voices, but he still somehow manages to nail all the high parts, the low parts and the screaming parts in between. On the other side, Mike shows a wider range of performing. It's not as demanding as Chester's but it contributes alot to the show. Mike raps lines at hgih speeds, cranks the guitar out during songs like "Crawling" and "A Place For My Head", sings backup vocals, does vocal solos during "P5hng Me A*wy", and plays piano during "My December", "Breaking The Habit" and "Numb". He's constantly a huge part of every song. Without Mike, LP's show wouldn't be nearly as good as it was. Chester = 51% Mike = 49%
i agree. Mike is very talented from knowing all the equipment, to rapping, to singing, to instruments (piano, guitar, etc.) Chester though, has to sing through all songs, scream through most of them, and stay energetic for hundreds of shows day after day. I think that is a major talent. All of the band is very talented.
I agree. Running and screaming all over a stage isn't easy to do...I can barely run to school and sing at the same time, god knows I've tried.
They are both great live because they both offer something different and unique. Mike is good at geeing up the crowd and Chester is just amazing with the vocal ability to enhance normal music!!
Chaz. He changes everything, raps behind Mike and his screams are awesome live. Mike sounds just like the studio version, which isn't exeactly good in live performances, IMO.
