Is everyone putting Tool at #1 because you've been convinced that they're more talented than anyone you've ever listened to and it shows or because it's actually a good record?
I put it at number one because it gives me a feeling when I listen to it that I haven't gotten from any other record made in 2006.

Likewise. Listening to the album from start to finish is quite an experience. It puts you in a mood. The same thing happens when I listen to 'The Fragile' or NearLY's 'Reminder'.
Yeah. I wasn't all that into NearLY. But definitely The Fragile and of course The Mars Volta for me. There are just certain moments in the record that give me goosebumps. Like in 10,000 Days when he yells "Give me my wings" and then it just breaks down. There's a lot of build-ups and big climatic releases throughout the record, which is one reason I like it. It's sort of like a suspenseful film.
