Bass Solos?

    What is your oppinion on the Bass and having basses carry the melody with a solo. Since I play bass I like to sneak one in when I play and instead of going on with the same like switch to an octave progression that fits on the D or G. But what do you think of bass solos.

    bass solos are awesome. i love Metallica's ones. Especially Devil's dance & the god that failed.

    I'm a bassist as well.

    Bass solos are awesome. So boring play the same riff or w/e all the time.

    Bands that have a good bass solo are Rancid, Project 86, Metallica, and the mars volta, incubus, and RHCP.
