But....think about all the money the insurance companies will lose! .... how are the rich people suppose to make a profit out of solutions to end poverty...... That's a YOYO.
I dont like the simplification down to YOYO or WITT. It's more like everyone has preferences on to which demographics are the winners and which are the losers in this world. Unfortunately this tends to be stereotyped down to fat lazy rich people who dont follow through on their civic duties that they themselves benefitted from verses fat lazy poor people (and illegals) living on welfare. Neither vision is true, both are overblown, and there's a lot more than two demographics in the universe. Since I'm leaning towards ultilitarianism, I tend to favor the poor.
I hate how almost every "serious" thread (or so it seems, anyway), starts with, ends with, or totally gets turned into a subject about marijuana. Anyway... Obama got Osama. Plain and simple, and for that, he is awesome. If McCain had been elected, this great day would probably not have happened.
As much as I don't wanna admit it, look no further than the system of aboriginal reserves right here in Canada. There might be lots of money to be made in the solution, but there's far more money to be made in perpetuating the problem. Trust me, I fly to these places every day. It's not a rosy picture. And there's quite a few people making quite a bit of money by keeping it that way.
Obama enterting the Correspondents dinner to Hulk Hogan's theme song a few nights ago was awesome. His speech was pretty cool too, and Seth was really funny too. Dug in hard to Trump, the Donald wasn't amused. But when the President did it, you could see Donald kind of smirking.
Not sure it's as black and white as that...I do work hard for my money, and If I see a need I help, I haven't done much volunteering because of school, but I plan on doing missionary work as I get older and have more oppurtunities.
@Castiel You can't take a shit in the toilet without the Government knowing about it (not literally). They can pretty much throw the "terrorist" tag on you for anything. This reminds me of George Orwell's 1984.
Meh, I'm with Louis on this one. I support Obama adding to the act. People always dramatize this act too much. It's a good thing that will help national security. That's how I see it anyway.
Yet it hasn't helped national security. It's helped the government gain more control of our lives. Terrorists #winning.
Just saying that doesn't mean it's true. The fact is that the government can know everything about you and are violating your rights just because of the Patriot Act, all because they say it is helping them spot terroristic activity. This is the reason little kids are getting felt up at airports. Instead of using their resources to target a more focused group of people, they're just targeting everyone. This is impeding on our freedom. Terrorists are winning. They've made us spend billions (trillions?) of dollars on wars we should have no part of. Terrorists winning. Obama is basically just like Bush in virtually every way. Edit: Some might say the terrorists targeted our country because we were "rich and free". Now we are neither. They forced us to spend so much money and now we're even making compromises to the Bill of Rights.
Rather more it begs the question/debate, what is national security and what is an invasion of privacy? National Security - Having your bags xray scanned at the airport. Invasion of Privacy - Having be denied the right to fly home because your breast milk is considered a dangerous substance. (yes I used an example of a real case).
"He who is willing to give up his personal freedom in exchange for security, deserves neither." I've forgotten which US President said that one. Away from that, really, give me a gist about that example.
