http://www.barackobama.com/ http://www.barackobama.com/about/ How many people are hoping this guy overtakes Hillary as the democratic candidate for the 2008 Election? I know that I am one of them. I have long thought that Hillary is only in it for Hillary, and for the power and control of the white house. There is a certain air or pompousness about Hillary that I just don't trust, and I think that Obama is both honest and a worthy candidate to take America back to where it was supposed to be. He came from poverty in Chicago but grew up to graduate from both Columbia and Harvard University and eventually became a very active member of the US Senate. It seems as if he personally knows about American struggle and has experienced the problems that face this nation, and wants to try and fix what many presidents have promised to fix but have fell short in accomplishing. I've already registered on his website and I'm bummed I'm not in one of the primary states, otherwise you can be damn sure I'd be lobbying for people to vote for him. But yeah, what do you all think?
I agree with what you say about Hillary. Every time she's brought up and talked about people tend to focus more on the fact that she's a woman, and that really annoys me.
Yes I dont see anything positive that Hillary could bring to the table, I think she's just gonna pedal the same broken promises her husband's administration did the first time. Everyone thought the Clinton's were so great but there were also a lot of things they said they'd do but didn't do over the course of TWO presidencies. Things that Barack now is promising to finally accomplish.
Obama > * Hillary > Republicans I thought Bill was a great president, but I'm not liking Hillary so much. Although I'd vote for her before voting for a Republican candidate (unless that Repub was Giuliani, but once the rednecks realize he's pro-choice and supports gay rights, he doesn't have a chance in hell). Also, one thing that bothers me about a Hillary presidency, is that if she gets 2 terms, that's 28 straight years of this country being led by only 2 families. This isn't a monarchy. I want to see some fresh faces and names in the white house.
The thing is, even with all the good Clinton did (okay, I'll admit he did a lot of good even though he disgusts me) it seems to me like Obama is more honest then most of the politicians in the white house. So many senators and big names in Washington now are so corrupted or in it for reasons other than the benefit of the American people. Take Jack Abramoff for example; Obama has made it clear that he plans to pass sweeping reforms to avoid that type of shit from happening again. He's just..something special. He seems to be the modern day Lincoln, which should be considered hilarious with all the times he's quoted the man in his speeches. He's a fresh face to American politics and I like that. That's why I'm registered Republican but voting Democrat this year, unless Obama loses the primary and Giuliani makes it into the front running. Yeah, yeah..everyone thought that at first and Barack has been quick to say how offended he is by that remark by the press.
I like this guy, simply 'cos he bagged our australian Prime minister, John Howard, who is a bigger dumbass than george bush, simply for following him to Iraq, and full of about as much crap as well.
If anyone noticed the AOL poll, Hillary had 8% of the vote while Bill had 92%. He was beating her in everything. Do you think this is a sign of something?
What they said about him getting elected when Bush is still president on Mock The Week was pretty funny. But I have no clue what difference it'll make when he actually gets elected, though... I don't follow politics.
I'd like to see this man become president, but unfortunatley, minorities are not allowed to become presidents because people love to support the white man.
I never said I wouldn't vote Dem Omar, it's just John Kerry was a fucking idiot. Maybe not as much as an idiot as Bush now that we think about it, but yeah..Kerry won three purple hearts so that had to make him amazing. [/sarcasm] But yes, I am registered Republican, but I vote for who shares my views the most.
somehow that looks really likely, as much as i would like Obama to win, the whole race thing just comes into play, i honestly doubt America would vote for Obama simply because of his skin...(*cough*southernstates*cough*)
Yet another reason why this man needs to win. He is not taking any donations from lobbyists or political action committees. Instead, he is putting his fate solely in the American people. He believes that if he's right for the job, the American people will donate money to help him win. He's making this election about the people: http://www.barackobama.com/ Awesome.
He won't win because he's only had a year or so of experience. He'd be better suited to run as a vice presidential canidate under, say, John Edwards.
