GERMAN BAND 'Eisbrecher' have taken the unsual step of including a couple of blank CDs with copies of their debut album in order to allow buyers to make a couple of copies of their own. Lead singer with the outfit, Alexx Wesselsky, said music buyers had been "criminalized enough" and had “been made responsible for the wretched state in the music industry." "We are giving them the chance to make 2 legal copies for private use with 'official blanks'," he said. "It can't always be that the end users have to take the blame for something that international corporations have arranged with their artist-burning methods," Wesselsky added, in a statement on the band’s website here. The first 5000 copies of the album will come with the blank CDs. Good for them
If mainstream American bands would do this, I guarantee that the RIAA would shut the hell up about illegal downloading.

Or make them more inraged. [/b][/quote] either way, it'd be nice if some American bands did this, but knowing the way the music industry thinks sometimes, they want because they're all greedy mother####ers. Only independent & underground bands will probably support this and illegal downloading.
Most mainstream bands support the downloading of their music. But it's their labels that don't. I say, to hell with the labels. All band's need are distribution companies. Then again, that might not be a good idea...

IE: Trent Reznor, Dr. Dre, Eminem, etc. Look at Trent Reznor, he has COMPLETE artistic freedom over his music, and can sell it any way he pleases. All Interscope does is put it out. I think. Lol.

I didn't say he can't do whatever he wants, i just said he was never gonna do something that supports file-sharing or cd-burning for sales purposes
I could really give two ##### about Dr. Dre, really. Fact is, if he wanted to support filesharing, he could but he's only tied down to his own label.
If only if only if only. I give another year and a half/two years before the RIAA (Recording Idiots Association of America) gives up and stops suing people. If they're smart, they'll start working on setting up sites where you can purchase songs legally. To make this more appealing then illegal downloading they'll have to make it super fast, easy, and have a huge selection. Plus they may set up some kind of program where after you buy so many songs you can get free merch or something. In the meantime, lowering CD prices would help as well. If CDs were $8, I'd probably pick up three in one trip as opposed to one.
