Anybody here a fan of Avicii? I know most of you like your EDM!

Avicii, the mastermind behind modern classic "Levels", is going to release his debut album, entitled True, on September 17, 2013! However, it won't be the same Avicii. He's preparing to throw synthetic sounds out the window in a bid to possibly change the EDM scene as we know it. There's also been very scarce rumors for quite a while now that our very own Mike Shinoda has collaborated with Avicii for something as well!

Listen to his bold new single "Wake Me Up!", if you haven't already!

Avicii's promo mix, released back in April, also includes new tracks from the album! Check it out:

Wikipedia lists Mike Einzeiger but not Mike Shinoda if that helps.

Cannot believe someone called Avicii 'bold' in relation to dance music.

I'm pretty sure someone posted about the collaboration in "Got News?". This article came up a while ago, but here it is.

Just found out about this... very interesting
but it seems like whatever they worked on is not going to be on the album - I could be wrong though as we will have to wait for the actual release (17th Sept)

this was 20th February (the RollingStone Interview was earlier that month):
    source: MTV UK

in more recent interviews (this: 20th June) Mike isn't even mentioned:

"Heart Upon My Sleeve" features Dan Reynolds, if you haven't heard the song already.

Whaaaaaat? I thought the track he's on was Always On The Run Remix. Love it.

    Now, onto Mike...

The remix IS "Heart Upon My Sleeve", hence the lyrics- "With my heart upon my sleeve, I head down low, I still feel broken" We can attribute and match many of the final song titles with tracks heard in the promo mix just by matching up the lyrics! That said, there is still no confirmation that Mike Shinoda is on the album. It's most likely he's unfortunately not, but there is still some hope. There was rumor a year or two back that Adam Lambert was going to appear on a song called "Lay It Down". Oddly enough there is a song on the final album entitled "Lay Me Down" and has writing credits from Lambert. So it's possible Mike Shinoda could be raised from demo hell too.

All collaborations are not yet confirmed (except for Aloe Blacc on "Wake Me Up!") until a personnel list of some kind shows up. However, we can narrow down the artists we know sing the songs on the Promo mix:

Songs in bold are the songs heard on the promo mix.

    01. "Wake Me Up!" - Aloe Blacc (Confirmed)
    02. "You Make Me" - Salem Al Fakir
    03. "Hey Brother" - Dan Tyminski
    04. "Addicted to You" - Audra Mae
    05. "Dear Boy" - (Unknown; Female voice)
    06. "Liar Liar" - (Unknown; Writing credits from Aloe Blacc and Blondfire)
    07. "Shame On Me" - (Unknown)
    08. "Lay Me Down" - (Unknown; writing credits from Adam Lambert)
    09. "Hope There's Someone" - (Unknown)
    10. "Heart Upon My Sleeve" - (Dan Reynolds)
    11. "Long Road to Hell" - (Audra Mae)
    12. "Edom" - (Instrumental)

Keep in mind that while at this stage it's unlikely Mike's audacious raps are ever going to appear on True, he might still have been a producer on the album.
No production credits have been released, and it's likely he produced a track or two, since he does have production capabilities, having produced numerous songs and co-produced the post-Meteora Linkin Park albums with Jesus himself.

P.S. I'm also the writer of the wikipedia article on True.

Just listened to his 2013 promo release on YouTube and I have to say I'm quite impressed!

I've also heard "Wake Me Up" a few times on the radio. Liking what I hear. Will keep my eye on him!

So according to Aloe Blacc, who performed the vocals of Wake Me Up, that Mike Shinoda made his appearance possible..
Q:Were you surprised when you were called in to work on Avicii's new record? How did it happen?
A: The call from Avicii did come as a surprise but I am up for experimenting. Mike Shinoda, who knows of me through a mutual friend from my hip-hop days, suggested to Avicii that I sing on his album. We initially met at Westlake Studios in L.A. where Michael Jackson recorded the Off the Wall and Thriller albums. It was there that I recorded the vocals to "Black & Blue" written by Mac Davis and also wrote a fresh idea with Avicii. Not too long after, he invited me to Mike Einziger's home studio for a session to write what would become "Wake Me Up."
