I don't see other threads for this, so yeah. Some of you may know that the Australian Open is nearing end, with some amazing players in the finals. Baghdatis, who is a Cypriot Player (woot), is in the finals. What's amazing is that he is unranked, and has beat every top 10 ranked player he has faced. Since, it seems evident that Federer will win the semi-final match, it will be Federer and Baghdatis in the finals. I could be wrong, but that's how I see it. A lot of you may be thinking that Federer, being the number one player, will obviously beat Baghdatis. But he's going to have a hard time if he does. Baghdatis is a strong player with strategies that always make him the winner. He's going to be tough competition. There is a chance that he might win this match. I'd love it if Baghdatis won the Australian Open. Due to his wins, Cyprus is becoming well known. Some people didn't even know it existed until Baghdatis began making his way up. Cypriot sites consisting of info on Baghdatis have gotten many, many hits. Who do you think will win? And who do you want to win? My votes go to Baghdatis.
Well since Hewitts out i reckon Baghdatis will win and i want him to win. If he can beat players like Roddick, he has every chance in the world
Baghdatis was the black horse, and would be nice to have a new face win the australian open. Though obvoiusly he have to get through federer(that is if he gets through too) who always has these surprise magic tricks under his sleeves. Its goin to be one hell of a match.................
It's a Roger Federer v's Marcos Baghdatis mens final after Federer beat Nicolas Kiefer 6-3 5-7 6-0 6-2 And a Justine Henin-Hardenne v's Amelie Mauresmo womans final
Yeah, I just found out that Federer won. I wouldn't have expected anything else, even though I was hoping that Federer would have come up short in the semi-finals. It will definitely be a better match than the last time Baghdatis faced Federer. Hopefully, Baghdatis will win, because his skill has greatly increased and he has beat top ranked players. If Baghdatis wins, hell, that'll be the best thing to happen to Greeks in sports since the Euro Cup in 2004.
Amelie Mauresmo defeated Justine Henin-Hardenne in the women's final after Justine pulled out with illness after one and a half sets.
thats mean to Mauresmo though, i mean to wait so long to win a grand slam, and then at last win one only because your opponent retired. Its kind of a put off, I dont think anyone would appreciate such a win................
The fairy tale has not ended as Marcos Baghdatis wanted as he was defeated in 4 tough sets by Roger Federer 5-7 7-5 6-0 6-2
