Thirty to seconds till it all ends
But I'm still there to fight
I've lost many a man and friend
But that won't diminish my might
Though I wait for hell to come
I know that everything is alright

Its been hard for my wife I know
She but we still keep in touch
I write her letters and share my grief
And everytime it hurts so much.
I realize time is running out
I'm on the 'line' so I'll keep this brief

'I joined with my friends to see the sights
    And burn down Berlin's towers
Adventure and fun rolled in one
    Deception uncovered as I cower

Bullets hit like scores at my men
    My command is fading fast
    Artillery striking like thundershowers
My life is a thing of the past

But I will keep on going
To stop this war for good
So my children and their children
Won't have to fight in war as I did.

So if this letter is not soaked with blood
I would like you to understand
And pass it down as an heirloom
    So everyone can comprehend

I'm writing my last words as I hear crout footsteps
The soft echo causes more alarm than I can admit

    I really like it :D . Good work :D .

It's been 85 years that WWI ended, some things have changed, but war is still horrible.

    Slightly off topic :

    WWI : 10 000 000 casualties
    WWII : 55 000 000 casualties
Korean War : About 325 000 (MIA and Captured data were maybe mixed).
    Vietnam War : 5 000 000 casualties

    Civilians and military.

you really created an atmosphere... and that's a very important thing to do... oh and, do you like war movies? war stories? because it sounds as though you have an interest in the subject...

I do a have a fascination with war history. My brother is pretty much obsessed with it, but do like war stuff.

That was just for the imagery, which I'm glad you noticed! My main goal was to get across the emotions and grief of the soldier in his final moments of life.
