If any of you remember my ex-roommate's band Enter The Collector, you'll recognize the singing from this duo. If you don't remember them, you might want to check out both ETC and AVP.

Enter The Collector broke up a while back.

This new project, Artist Vs. Poet was started up by the lead singer Tarcy (a friend of mine), and they're coming out with some pretty catchy stuff.

I decided to post about them when I saw that The Apathy Eulogy, a band that Will posted on here a while back, had them in their top 8. I was like, "Wow, I know them!"

Here are links to check them out and Tarcy's old band, Enter The Collector:
    Artist Vs. Poet
Recommended Tracks: All 2 tracks they have up so far.
    Enter The Collector
Recommended Tracks: All of them again, but I particularly like Oblique and Improvisation Reprise.

No problem. :) I just love spreading the word on new music. This one is personal though, I mean, for crying out loud, I know this guy!

I have to say though, Assurance Closure is a catchy-as-hell song. Especially that chorus.

To any of you still listening to AVP, they will be releasing a NEW song entitled 'An Infallible Remedy' on their purevolume tomorrow at 12pm (noon) Central Time. It will only be available to listen to at this site, so be ready!

Since creating their purevolume page earlier this week, AVP has been featured on the front page and is currently #7 in Today's Top Plays, beating out Every Time I Die and Paramore!

Yeah, I know Tarcy. I was roommates with the bassist in his old band, and through him I got to meet and become good friends with everyone else. He used to live with us at one point (unofficially, of course). At least, before they got busted for supplying alcohol to minors at a party (that I wish I was at hahaha) and left the apartment.Never met Craig before, but I plan to go to their 'official' first show so yeah.

And they share vocals on Assurance Closure, although Tarcy is still lead vocals.

EDIT: I just listened to An Infallible Remedy, and prepare to be amazed.

Here's a video from AVP and a teaser!

EDIT: An Infallible Remedy is on their purevolume now!

    Artist Vs Poet Purevolume

Double post, I apologize, but just thought I'd update.

AVP played their first live show last night. It was most definitely bomb-diggity.

I met up with Tarcy and my old roommate Michael after getting my wristband, and we went out and smoked a cigarette for old times sake. There were 7 bands playing last night: Savorina, Panima, Search The City, AVP, Josephine Collective, Breathe Carolina, and Ivoryline. It's Ivoryline's CD Release Show.

My ex-roommate Cale is temporarily playing Bass for them, that's pretty cool.

Their live set-up consists of Tarcy on lead vocals, Craig on lead guitar/vocals, Patrick on guitar, Cale on bass, Joe on drums, and Joe's Macbook for samples (they don't have a synth player and there's some drum machine stuff).

When they play live all the songs are much more rock-ish than the studio recordings.

They played a 4 song set:

    1. Exit The Quitters
    2. 8-14-07
    3. An Infallible Remedy
    4. Assurance, Closure

8-14-07 is the song that you hear in the youtube video in my previous post. Sounds great live, but I also can't wait to hear the full studio version.

I have a video of me/Tarcy/Michael outside, but I don't have my camera with me. Will post tomorrow!
