The third season of Arrested Development, the critically-acclaimed "best comedy on television", starts tonight on FOX at 8PM EST. Last night at the Emmys, despite being completely robbed by Everybody Loves Raymond in the Best Comedy category (because it was ELR's last season, undoubtedly), the show won a "Best Writing in a Comedy" award for the amazing scripts that keep pouring out in each and every episode of Arrested Development. It's the most clever and hilarious show on television, by far. Mitchell Hurwitz, who won the Emmy last night, described it best when he said "The academy has twice rewarded us for something you people won't watch" upon receiving the award. In addition, AD has won; 2004 Emmy Awards - Best Comedy, Best Lead Actor in a Comedy (Jason Bateman), Best Writing, Best Casting, and Best Editing 2005 Golden Globe Awards - Best Performance by an Actor in a Comedy (Jason Bateman) 2003 American Film Institute Award - Best Show. It has also been nominated in dozens of other categories. The problem is, no one will give the show a chance. It's just so underappreciated. Every year during a new season, I call on people here to check out the show, but they don't. So I'm begging you, watch the show tonight, and if you don't like it, never watch it again. But at least give it a chance. You'll be hooked. I don't think the show can last another full season with the ratings it's gotten over the last few years. Tonight. 8PM EST. Watch it.
Only seen a few shows of this in the UK, but its really good and I will have to try and get the new season B)
I love Arrested Development. Its smart and funny. It really does deserve those awards. I'm very glad its still on the air.
