This is more for the norwegian fans.
Two bombs have been detonated in our main city Oslo.
And i am wondering if there are anyone here who lives near that knows more about whats going on then me.

I know that your main priorities isn't to post on a forum.

    Other then that.
Oslo haven't looked this bad since the second world war.

This seemingly came out of nowhere, and now extremist Islamic groups are claiming responsibility...

Can you explain to me Norway's foreign policies re: global terror? Do they have a hardline stance against extremists?

I guess the main thing I'm trying to understand is: Why Norway? Not exactly a headlining anti-jihadist country.

TV news is useless, I went to the newspaper instead http://www.latimes.com/news/la-fg-n...gn=Feed:+latimes/news+(L.A.+Times+-+Top+News)

That's pretty terrible. I hadn't known until now there was more than one incident going on. WTF universe.

Alquaida took indirectly responsibility... But thats for fame reasons.
THe shooting situation, it was rumored it was an american. Same goes for the bombing.

The attack is political not cultural... It was headed towards the prime minister (most deffenetly)
The government has done some changes people ain't that happy with these days...

DLD is the new internett survailance law which limits peoples personal freedom.

If it was Islamic terrorists, I think being a Western country is enough to get them attacked. I'm guessing they saw an opportunity in Norway and attacked.

It was a Norwegian shooter, so no more America-related talk.

Seems like the Islamic extremist group which claimed responsibility was simply glory-seeking for publicity. These attacks are undoubtedly political. It's entirely possible the man who was arrested had a part in both the explosion and the shootings.

80 people killed? Holy shit. Sounds like an all-out massacre on Utoya Island. Wow.

Norway has now had its Timothy McVeigh. This is really awful, I hope Oslo has a speedy recovery and my heart goes out to the family who've lost loved ones.

Ok so I found a couple of websites that go into detail about the events on Friday but here are some main points I picked up:

    • 32-year-old Anders Behring Breivik has confessed carrying out both the shooting at the Workers’ Youth League gathering (which claimed 86 lives while 4 remain missing) and the bombing of the Prime Minister’s offices in Oslo (where 7 people died).

    • Despite his admission, Breivik pled not guilty, and told police his actions were “gruesome but necessary“; arguing that his actions were aimed at saving Norway and western Europe from "cultural Marxism" and a “Muslim takeover,” according to court officials.

    • His targets: Marxists, Muslims, “suicidal humanists,” and “global capitalists.” His goal: “the European civil war: 1999-2083.” His view of himself: a Knight’s Templar, a crusading Christian warrior defending monoculture, patriarchy, and “European isolationism. Anders Behring Breivik posted this and many more messages online in a video and giant 1,500-page manifesto, which police are now reading in detail, according to the Associated Press. “Onward, Christian soldiers!” Reads a message in the video. “Because in only 14 years, by 2025, a majority of our Western European capitals will be Muslim cities … unless we manage to defeat the ruling Multiculturalist Alliance!”

The manifesto, posted by the 32-year-old the day of the attacks, also promised revenge on “indigenous Europeans” who he said were betraying their heritage. While he confessed to the attacks, Breivik denied criminal responsibility, according to police. In the video posted online, photos of the suspect in scuba gear carrying an assault rifle and wearing a military uniform are set next to photos of medieval crusading knights battling Muslims, and a political cartoon showing Uncle Sam pointing a gun in his mouth labeled “liberals” and “Muslims.”

Breivik’s lawyer has said: “(Breivik) wanted a change in society and, from his perspective, he needed to force through a revolution. He wished to attack society and the structure of society.”

Here is the video where Anders posted online about him being a "crusading Christian warrior defending monoculture, patriarchy, and 'European isolationism'" (you have to be 18 or older to see it)

    • He further claimed he acted alone, saying police should “verify everything that he said“.

    • Interesting enough, Anders Breivik had been on a government watch list since March after he illegally purchased large amounts of chemicals online from a Polish retailer.

    • Breivik also claimed that there were at least two more cells within his organization, although officials declined to elaborate on that claim.
