I've been playing guitar and bass for about a year now, but I'm not very good. I know a good bit of riffs, but nothing too spectacular.
I've been playing guitar just over a year now, i can play some pretty decent stuff (mainly Trivium, Maiden and Metallica). I'm lucky with the guitar though. i literaly just picked it up and played it, and i find it really easy to learn new stuff.
Been playing about 4 years. I started playing guitar because I was horrible at drums and my dad suggested guitar because "I have really long fingers." Pretty wise decision because I can play lots of Metallica and Hendrix now but I probably can't play even White Stripes on drums.
I've been playing for 6 years. Obsessed over all the guitar details like "o..I need a Dragon II pickup for my PRS" but its really fun to play. I've played in everything from jazz bands to my current rock band.
I play guitar as well. What's funny is that even though I can play bass, drums, guitar, and even sing a little, I'm still not in a band. I can play some Muse stuff which is pretty complicated but awesome. Green Day stuff too. And of course, some of my own material. Then there are some few solos, like Back in Black from AC/DC...meh. Linkin Park is the easiest thing I know on guitar.
I play aswell. Ive been playing now for just over a year now. Im already in a band hehehe im fast. Were called "Silent Calling" i play rythym seeing as though i havent got the experiance to play lead. Its great fun. I would like to ask you guys though. Do u noe where i can get a band logo created? Im just not very artistic and neither is anyone else in the band so if ne1 here comes up with a logo or know sum1 that can please post. Remember thats "Silent Calling"
Bass is for people who suck at guitar. I've been playing guitar for like...I dunno, probably 4 years now. I never really got any better until I got into metal, though, which was around last summer. I usually like to play a lot of Trivium and Metallica, but lately I've been writing my own stuff. I'm annoyed with people at my school. Anyone who brings a guitar and can play Iron Man (By Black Sabbath, and the wrong way, might I add) gets a whole crowd around them. I'm really not the bragging type, but I feel the need to let it be known that I could kick pretty much anyone's ass at guitar at school. Oh, and I'll add that I'm a total guitar geek. I'll be saying something like, "I need to get some Duncans for my Les Paul. I want a Jackson DXMG with a Crate half-stack", and my friends only know that I must be talking about guitars.
I'm more of a piano-girl. I just started guitar somewhere last year, and haven't really had the chance to continue it seriously. I'm looking for courses here, and I still need to buy a new guitar, but eventually I'll start again. At the most I could play part of Hotel California and Runaway Train, and the simplest of exercises.
I've been playing guitar for about five or six years now, and I also play bass, violin, french horn, and mellophone.
I play guitar, but i'm not very good. My memory is shit. When i learn things on guitar i can play it really well but about a week later it will be like i just picked up a guitar and have no idea what i'm doing. Meh, i pretty much suck lol =/
That was the most close-minded guitar-oriented statement I've ever heard. I've got three friends who can utterly rip a bass guitar apart by playing as complex as Flea but then turn right around and play just as complex material on electric guitar.
I think your totally right btw. i want to start playing guitar and i've been saying this for a few months now i think i should just buy a guitar and get to it ... but i think bass is awsome to can't choose :s
2006 marks my 10th year playing guitar. Just curious, what kind of guitars does everybody here have? I use a B.C. Rich Warlock and an ESP Special Edition DevilGirl.
I have an acoustic guitar so next semester I am gonna take guitar class in school. I have so little time to take up another instrument it will be good to make time for it! Guitar is cool, I want learn how to play it as its pretty versatile and just overall fun for different occaisions, jamming, playing at a campfire or party, whatever...kinda hard to do that with a bass or saxophone
I have a Schecter electric, a Fender acoustic, a Fender acoustic 12 string, a BC Rich bass, and a Peavey bass. I also have a really cheap hollow body electric guitar, I'm thinking it's an Oscar Schmidt but I'm not quite sure.
I think everybody's gonna think I'm spoiled...here's my equipment list: Guitars: Yamaha EG 112 (Fender Fat Strat copy) Gibson Flying V Epiphone G1275 Custom (12 string/6 string doubleneck) Guild X-82 Nova Aria Les Paul (1970's, pre-Gibson lawsuit model) Ovation CK 057 Celebrity Acoustic/Electric Ibanez AX7221 7 string I've also got a guitar my dad built himself, I call it the MS-1 Basses: Squier MB4 Skulls N' Bones MS-1B (Another one my dad built) Other equipment: Dunlop picks, capo, brass slide, straps, and straplocks Monster cables AKG stereo headphones Fender Champion 30 DSP practice amp Gibson G80 combo amp Fender Rumble 100 bass amp Boss GT-8 effects processor Boss TU-2 pedal tuner Ross (not Boss, Ross!) distortion DOD FX69 Grunge distortion DOD FX60 stereo chorus Electro-Harmonix Deluxe Electric Mistress flanger Dunlop Crybaby wah-wah ^ I only use my GT-8 for effects anymore, but I'll pull out the stompboxes when I'm recording stuff if I want a different sound or something. A lot of my stuff belonged to either my dad or uncle when they were younger, so it might look like I'm rich or something, but really I don't spend a whole lot on equipment.
Tasta...that's a lot of...stuff. I don't even have a bass amp, I just use my Fender guitar amp. Sounds like shit.
I'm learning how to play guitar. I don't have one yet, I'll be borrowing a friend's for now, and when I've saved a little more money I'll buy my own. I plan to tackle bass after I have a reasonable amount of skill on guitar.
