I've just bought a new computer and would like to know what you guys recommend as the best Anti-Virus programme, and where i could possibly get it too. Thanks in advance.

NOD32 from Eset. It’s relatively inexpensive and has a 100% effective rating from the Virus Bulletin.

well, if you are a hard core tech, and you know how to take care of your machine, then an anti-virus isn't necessary. But i'd go with Norton or McAfee. They are good programs but they do slow down your computer, but if you have a lot of ram then there's no problem. I would also get Microsoft Antispyware program. It's great and one of the best you can get.

I'd go with Norton unless you know exactly what you are doing.

    ROFL.

Even the "hard core techs" have anti-virus progs on their computers. Never hurts to be protected, just in case. ;)

AVG / Norton for me. :)

well, i don't. I don't see the need in one really. For one, they slow your computer down. Another thing is that Norton isn't as good as it used to be. A lot of people have found a way around Norton. But you are right, it's better to get one just to be safe, even if you are good enough on a computer to know where and where not to go.

The world of Virus Protection isn't just Norton and McAfee.

    I recommend AVG or NOD32.

    That's just being stupid.

And if you're a 'hard core tech' you most likely have the RAM to deal with the whopping like.. 14 megs that AVG uses.

Panda's funny. It has that British guy saying "Welcome to Panda Antivirus" when you boot.

I used to like AVG until it missed a huge virus that screwed up my machine.

    Now I'm a full-on avast!Antivirus fangirl. I've been using it for a while and it's stopped everything.
