Ok basically my iPods hard drive arm has detached, and therefore it's useless. Ok I could understand this if it was the first time it had happened, but it's not. The same thing happened with my original iPod a year ago. Both iPods were the old iPod Mini 4GB. Is this a common problem with iPods? And do you think it's likely that it'd happen with an 80GB Classic, which is what I'd like to buy, but I'm a bit wary now.
I've never experienced the problem you've had but I never had an iPod Mini. My first was 3G iPod and I sold it to a friend and then I got a 60GB Video and now I have an 80GB Classic and none of them have had any issues at all.
that's good to hear. I really do wanna buy the classic, it's really good value for money. Just not gonna be happy if I spend all that money again and it just breaks down...
The funny thing is, is that I dropped my 60GB video into the water and the screen stopped working for a night and I woke up the next morning and it was perfectly fine. I think that with each new iPod, the quality gets better. I love my classic and I love the redesigned menu scheme. I'd recommend it.
Yea that's what I was hoping someone would say, that they've been stepping up the quality. Thanks for the advice
Well the new iPods have solid state flash memory, so you're not going to have any issues with drive arms or read heads.
Shit happens. The chances of a hard drive failure are very, very small. You just were one of the not so lucky ones.
So it is a rare occurence? "cos it has happened to me twice now. EDIT: Bugger it, I bought a classic.
Since it'd be stupid to make another thread... My brother wants a mp3 player since he enjoys mine. Here's the thing...he only wants one for music pretty much. Are there any cheap mp3 players out there that don't have the name "iPod" in them?
All the other MP3 players (Creative Zen, the Zune) are all slightly less expensive but they're still expensive.
You could get a really cheap one for 50$ if he doesn't care about quality. Hell, I'll send you a Creative Zen Plus Micro for 50$. It was 100$ when I bought it, but I think it's 80$ now. EDIT: That was directed at you Friskey
All depends how much memory he wants really. I think iPods are the best value for the larger sized hard drive ones, but for like a 1GB MP3 player, you won't have to pay much at all.
