was it bad to post it? because otherwise some other online magazine/press whatever would have done it.... I feel bad now... :( but we got the message directly from the band...so thats kinda good isnt it?

This is exciting. This sound more sincere and .. just.. serious than anything previous. But, as someone who saw the MTM fallout, I'm trying to keep myself in neutral. I'm using my skepticism to help keep my mind calm and open, with hopes to be pleasantly surprised, rather than having specific expectations and being unpleasantly surprised. Yeah I'm a buzzkill, but its not exactly pessimistic either.

Yet still, this is very good writing. They are masters of the Hype Machine.

    Playing Devil's advocate:

According to Metacritic, a site that average all critics' scores, that Rolling Stone review was the most generous. The scores averaged out to a 59 (or was it 57...?), which they call average. But since the average artist gets rated way above average (look at how the vast majority are green) I think a 59 in truth ends up below average.

Your sig makes up for it XD

"We asked ourselves: were we all earnestly willing, more than ever before, to abandon the precepts of commercial ambition in pursuit of what we believe to be honest art?"

That, right there, is proof that Linkin Park has moved on and is doing what they want, for them. Take a good long look at that one sentence.

I think I've been working on my own album for approx. 5 years on and off. If this album doesnt give me inspiration to finish it, I have no idea what will.

I had this idea that since they were inspired by Pink Floyd that this album will either be 1. HATED FOR ALL ETERNITY or 2. HATED FOR 3-5 years maybe? and then be considered completely fucking classic

This is why I admire Linkin Park. Their letter has left me speechless about the sound and approach of their new album. They inspire me everyday and motivate me to not give up on any dream I have. If you have the vision, you can do it. God bless this band.

Finally hearing TC in headphones, the build up sounds definitely like LP. I am totally cool up to the techno solo, but even without lossless quality it sounds promising. I still think I will adore TC majorily in lossless quality, it's definitely an epic song after hearing the piano version and finally hearing it in headphones.

My favourite part of the article. Amazing, massive respect guys for trying to be artisitc rather than commercial with this record.
