This is a good refreshment from the Evanescence material, keeping an eye on this release, sounds solid.
If big distorted guitar chords kick in right where that preview ends, I won't be the slightest bit surprised.
This is a movie score which is why it's under her name and not Evanescene. It's for the movie "War Story" and she collaborated with Cellist David Eggar to produce this. Sounds like it should be pretty good but I wouldn't expect a lot of singing.
So the thing is out (or leaked, because I'm listening). And it's rather interesting. I'm gonna make a bold affirmation here (maybe a tad ignorant one too ) but the opening track 'Push the Button' sounds like coming from a NIN song. Also a guitar nowhere to be seen, if that's what worries some here, bar the last section of 'Lockdown' but it's very mild in contrast to what we're used to hearing from her in Evanescence, not over the top, the song calls for it. 'Dark Water' featuring Malika Zarra has a middle eastern vibe to it, and that is always welcome in a song in my book. The rest of the songs are instrumentals, mainly with strings, and one is a piano instrumental. Nice little soundtrack. Only 2 or 3 tracks have vocals from Amy, it's very atmospheric and calm. Not bad at all but nothing too flashy.
I kinda thought the same thing about the NIN sound...it's different though...similar but very different. I loved Dark Water. This is a very new sound for her and it works very well in my opinion!
Indeed it works well, and Dark Water is pretty good, actually from just two listens the "vocal" songs are my favorites, Push the Button, Dark Water and Lockdown.
I've given "Push The Button" a listen and, surprisingly, it actually sounds like nothing like Evanescence. Pleasant surprise.
