Source: ultimate-guitar.com Well that really just bites my chain...except for the fact that Fall to Pieces is overplayed to death...VR kicks ass! She doesn't know shit is what I can tell you!
Well she's right. They're not that great. But neither is her band. They both have a repetitive quality where you can only play their CD so much until you have to hide it for a few weeks or you'll break it. I like both bands but eh, nothing special, I suppose. Her doing a solo career might be better off.
I don't see why everyone is making such a damn big deal out of it. Velvet Revolver is nothing special. They bore me too and Slash is overrated.
I opened this thinking I was going to read news of a colaberation between Amy lee and VR. But this interview ain't nothing special really.
Its just her bitching to get attention like she does all the time. Thats a pretty stuck up thing to say about another band. Oh no! Here come the evanescence lovers coming too flame me.
I'm going to have to agree with Amy on this one. My local radio station played the entire cd the day before it was released, and it is boring as hell. Slash needs to get himself a real band, Scott Weiland is an effin' idiot. He's right up there with courtney love on the "people who should have been thrown in jail years ago" list. Never liked him, still don't like him. Who cares if she speaks her mind? Wouldn't you rather have that than "I like everyone so I dont piss people off and lose fans because all I care about is money".
*applause* Well...Scott used to be good. So I can't completely talk shit about the man.
I could never really get into Stone Temple Pilots but he was a pretty good vocalist. I just don't think that Velvet Revolver is any good and they should have at least used their talents or just never have gotten together.
I think her comments were justified, VR really is nothing special. The only good song on their album is "'Slither". It's just that the hype got them alot of play. If no one in VR were known celebrities in the music world, this band probably would've had trouble finding a record deal, and their album would be hardly a success.
You can tell that Velvet Revolver is just a throwback hair-metal band because that's what weiland grew up listening to, that's what slash wants to do, and the name "velvet revolver" sounds so hair-metal. the music sounds like it too.
fuck, music is all opiniated you dope. there are people out there that think VR are the best thing since sliced bread and people who don't like them. well it's the same evanescence. Every single band that you like, some people think they are nothing special. You can't say things like "if they weren't in another band they wouldn't be here" because you have no idea. your all just Evanescence fan girls who have to stick up for em cause they are in your musical tastes. Some people don't like what you like. deal with it.
The same could be said for Evanescence, really. And yes, I cut out the part about the 'known celebrity' thing, since, well, Amy Lee & The Backup Band (what I like to call them) aren't celebrities. Although how one could classify Slash a celebrity is beyond me. Anywho. When you get right down to it, the music is nothing we haven't heard before, and the lyrics aren't mind-blowing. I don't know why we all like Evanescence, I guess it's different for each person. But in my opinion, the song writing is average at best, and the music isn't ground-breaking. As for Velvet Revolver, I never liked them from the beginning. Fuck, I never like STP or GnR. The only time I've ever liked GnR was at that MTV Awards Show where Buckethead was with them. That was fucking dope. But yeah. You can pick apart my "argument" or whatever you want to call it, but it's an opinion, and I don't know how one could be mis-informed on music (and Evanescence, since I'm actually a fan, but I just don't think they're nothing special), especially mainstream music when it's not that complicated to begin with.

I was merely saying that for one thing, this band has shown no great musicianship through their music, as shown by their debut album. If Velvet Revolver came to a record company as regular joes, they'd probably have a tough time getting a recording contract. If that happened, I'd doubt many people would buy the album because their singles never would've got so much radio airplay due to hype. As for being opinionated, I'd also like to point out the fact that you said, "you have no idea", which is disrespecting my opinion. Nice job. Fangirl? Alright. As long as throwing around moronic labels makes you happy, keep doing it. I'm simply agreeing with what Amy said, because she voiced her opinion, a reflection of mine, on Velvet Revolver. And I wasn't responding to anyone's negative comments, I was stating my opinion. Ever try decaf? I agree, Casey. Evanescence isn't that much of an original band. But Amy's a good singer, they've got good lyrics and instrumentation, and I like them. Whoop-dee-do.

you said her comments were justified. how can they be if its all opiniated as you say in your second post. And by me saying "you have no idea". I mean you have no idea whether they would struggle to find a record deal. just because you dont like them doesn't mean they'd find it hard. the two bands got Guns n roses & STP off the ground without previous celebrity status so i'd say they would have a fair chance. And people wouldn't buy the record if they didn't like it. It wouldn't get played if no one liked it. You just can't think of anything else to put in your argument.

I don't appreciate being classified as a "fan girl" because I think Velvet Revolver fucking sucks and Amy Lee has every right to express her opinion about any band she wants to.
1st step of debating: Read carefully. Notice the "I think" before I said "her comments are justified". I never said they were right and everyone else was wrong. The "I think" establishes that I agreed with her, as part of my opinion. Which leads me to: 2nd step of debating: Respect other people's opinions. As I said before, she voiced her opinion, a reflection of mine, on Velvet Revolver. I also gave an opinion of how I think VR would have trouble getting a record deal and having mainstream success without their prior famous bands backing their reputations. They could all individually be as talented as they want, but the chemistry was not there in my opinion, and was shown by their debut album. STP and GnR made it because they had a good musical chemistry within their respective bands. And if people wouldn't buy the album because they didn't like it, that would obviously mean that it wasn't very good, right? I need not find anything else to put in my argument because quite frankly, I said everything I wanted to say. Now, feel free to tell me my opinion is wrong again. Yours merely differs and I respect that. Now return the respect, CJ. And Casey, I don't know what's wrong with "Whoop-dee-do". That's a little excessive on your part to call it unclassy. I suppose if I had said "big deal", you wouldn't of had any problem with it? It seems as if Evanescence is a sore spot for you guys. Let's lighten up.
I'll just put my 2 cents in and say that Amy Lee is stupid for the comments she made! I happen to like Velvet Revolver, and while isn't the best album ever, I do happen to like GnR and STP, so basically in a way, she's ripping on 2 of the greatest bands ever Besides all that, Evanescence sucks these days...she basically fucked one of my favorite songs ever (I happen to like the original "Broken" alot better) I like Seether, and sad to say, that's probably all they're going to be known for in the future...oh, they did that one song with Amy Lee...it's like Bring Me to Life and that guy from 12 Stones! Amy Lee can burn in hell with all the other wannabe goth posers that love to hurt themselves for fucking attention! *end vent/rant*
