Amazon's Top 100 of 2003? Outkast's new album claimed the top spot, with the White Stripes Elephant being at #3. Other notables were The Mar's Volta's 'De-Loused in the Comatorium' at #47, Godsmack's 'Faceless' at #48, A Perfect Circle's 'Thirteenth Step' at #58, and Staind's 'Fourteen Shades of Grey' at #59. Personally the list was okay, but contained far too much power-pop and indie-rock bands than there should have been. Linkin Park's 'Meteora' didn't make the Top 100.
Joe Strummer & Jane's Addiction were on there, that's good...I agree though, too much indie rock...and no Linkin Park!!!
That's got to be the worst top 100 list I've ever seen. I think Amazon.com was smokin' some bad weed when they made that list.
You're not the only one. lol. I have no clue who a lot of those artists are.
me to.. :wth:
me to.. :wth:
I only knew The Mars Volta, The White Stripes, The Strokes, Fountains Of Wayne, Godsmack, Staind and A Perfect Circle. The others might as well have come from the moon. I didn't recognize ONE band name on that entire list besides what I mentioned. It's like these people were in the back woods of some foreign country and were forced to make that list by a Bigfoot. Or the Loch Ness Monster. Or a Bigfoot dressed as the Loch Ness monster. :chemist:
I think it's quite sad when more than half of the entire list doesn't even have the picture of the album next to its' name. Still can't believe Meteora didn't make it. So many great albums of the year were left off. Like.. Linkin Park- Meteora Deftones- Deftones A Fire Inside- Sing the Sorrow Hoobastank- The Reason Adema- Unstable Alien Ant Farm- truANT Brand New- Your Favorite Weapon Brand New- Deja Entendu Blink-182- Blink-182 Story of the Year- Page Avenue Ah. I could go on, but I won't.
There are only 2 bands on there that I have heard and like. They are Godsmack and Staind. That's crazy! That list is really... not good.
You HAVE to remember guys, that there are a lot of albums that are from other genres like world music, soul, jazz, and classical. I think that its good that they have such a wide range but some of the stuff like 'The Kings of Leon' and 'The New Pornographers' are 'power-pop' acts of something like that, and I think the genre got too much attention in the Rolling Stones list and way to much attention here. A couple of albums I wanted on the list (i did like that they had The Mars Volta and A Perfect Circle!): Dream Theater - Train of Thought (best metal album of the year) Opeth - Damnation (sounds like Pink Floyd....but from a death metal band!) Anyways, I also wanted Meteora on there to, but at least it got on the RS top 50.
You are absolutely right. But, you have to remember, these are the Editor's picks—this list is based on their opinions on the CDs that have come out this year! Their opinions should be respected, yes...but it does disappoint me that the list contains 93 bands I've never heard of. [Edit:] Oh, wow. I made that second statement look as though it was directed toward you, Odaton. It wasn't.
Okay, thanks for the clarification, Will! Yeah, thats something to get across to people here! TOP 100 CUSTOMER PICKS OF 2003 This is a GREAT list, with Coldplay's Rush of Blood to the Head at #4, and Evanescences Fallen at #6. I have yet to check it out a bit more! [EDIT]: LP is at #38! Thats more like it! TOP HARD ROCK/METAL ALBUMS OF 2003 A much better list, mainly because Opeth's Damnation is at the TOP!! I highly recommend that album, especially people who like Acoustic Rock. Metal-fans should pick up their heavier albums.
68, 76, 83, 84. http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/brows...1788446-9609716 Look at the customer picks. Lmao. edit: meteora got #38 for customer picks
