I don't dislike the two singles per se but they feel bland in a way I haven't felt since I heard Somewhere I Belong. The lyrics of both songs are so vague they're cliche and make the thoughts they are trying to express feel contrived. I'm not saying that I think the songs are as bad as I think SIB is but it feels forced to me in a way, especially in terms of lyrics. And it's not the themes but the execution. In a way these songs feel like what the album BEFORE ATS should have sounded like as LP was trying to add some new tricks to their style. Like I said, I don't dislike the songs per se but I sometimes I wonder if I would really care about these songs if I haven't been a big LP fan for the past 12 years.
I actually loved Somewhere I Belong just because of the situation I was in when I heard it. But I agree this does sound like somethin that would come before ATS as the lyrics on it were so mature while these ones are the most vaguest, pop-song-type lyrics that I think they've ever made.
And after listening to the stream on itunes and d/ling a rip I'm going to say that I'm eating crow and didn't know what fuck I was talking about LOL. My hope after hearing BID and LGM was that they released the two weakest tracks first and that was the case. Funny enough, I like those two songs more within in the context of the album. The album is amazing. As much as I loved ATS this is a better album. It has ATS maturity and creativity with HT's energy. This band is fucking amazing.
AHA ! I just listened to it as well and was going to come back here and post how much I loved it and how I was eating my words ! I still don't like Burn It Down but it will grow on me ! I LOVE YOU LINKIN PARK <3
