Okay, there doesnt seem to be many Weezer fans here on the LPA boards, but even if you dont like them, you should be excited by this. Why? Because Rivers Cuomo (in the 90's) was a musical genius, and as such any new material from that era is, at least to me, a pretty exciting concept. Well, here it is, the announcement of Alone II, a new collection of demos from the 90's. Here is the announcement: http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/news/upcoming_releases/rivers_cuomo_prepares_alone_ii.html The tracklist has also apparently been leaked, and it contains these songs: 1. "Paperface" 2. "I've Thrown It All Away" 3. "Don't Worry Baby" (Beach Boys cover) 4. "The Purification of Water" 5. "I'll Think About You" 6. "Walt Disney" 7. "Come to My Pod" 8. "Oh Jonas" 9. "Please Remember" 10. "The Prettiest Girl in the Whole Wide World" 11. "I Want to Take You Home Tonight" 12. "I Was Scared" 13. "Bad Girl" 14. "My Day is Coming" 15. "I Don't Wanna Let You Go" 16. "Softies" Heres the info that I know about these: - Paperface was recorded around the Blue Album era, and was released originally on Blue Album Deluxe Edition. - Purification of Water is currently available on Weerez. - Walt Disney is also currently available on Weerez. - Come to My Pod, Oh Jonas, and Please Remember are all from Songs From The Black Hole. Come To My Pod is available on Weerez. - The Prettiest Girl in the Whole Wide World is from the Green Album sessions, I believe. - Softies was recorded after The Red Album, so it may give us an idea of what their next album will be like. Also, Weerez is a website (www.weerez.com).
I don't think so. Lil Wayne's latest album's cover was an homage to Nas. I'll check this out, if only for my friend Tim. He has a boner for all things Weezer/Rivers Cuomo.
It looks similar enough to the Lil Wayne artwork, which was pretty heavily ridiculed when it was revealed, and I probably wouldn't put it past Rivers to joke about it.
The official track list has been released, here it is: 01 Victory on the Hill 02 I Want to Take You Home Tonight 03 The Purification of Water 04 I Was Scared 05 Harvard Blues 06 My Brain Is Working Overtime 07 I Don't Want to Let You Go 08 Oh Jonas 09 Please Remember 10 Come to My Pod 11 Don't Worry Baby 12 The Prettiest Girl in the Whole Wide World 13 I Can't Stop Partying 14 Paper Face 15 Walt Disney 16 I Admire You So Much 17 My Day Is Coming 18 Cold and Damp 19 I'll Think About You Okay, some interesting songs there. Im kind of obsessive about Weezer, so I should know where some of these come from. Heres what I know - Victory on The Hill is an instrumental that was recorded just before the song Defeat on The Hill, which we have yet to hear. - Oh Jonas, Please Remember, and Come To My Pod are all from Songs From The Black Hole (FRICK YES) - I Cant Stop Partying was written by the same guy who wrote Mariah Carey's "We Belong Together", and Rivers sort of added some of his style into it. So it should be interesting. - The Prettiest Girl In The Whole Wide World was originally considered for The Green Album.
http://www.pitchforkmedia.com/article/news/146861-rivers-cuomo-talks-alone-ii-weezer-that-hair There's an interview with Pitchfork. Don't let them rot your brain too much. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alone_II:_The_Home_Recordings_of_Rivers_Cuomo#Track_origins and there's extra summary as to where some of the tracks come from. Some of the Maladroit demos would be nice.
