Let's do this list for 2018 just like in 2017. Taking into account how early it is in 2018 I'll start with my most anticipated albums, either confirmed or not, but all from artists that have been away a while. Anticipated Albums 2018 BMTH – TBC (hoping for it since it has been almost 3 years and after the huge That's The Spirit, one of the most anticipated ones) Avril Lavigne – TBA (the most anticipated album of the year for me, but I hope the song with Bebe Rexha comes on Rexha's album and not on Avril's) Echosmith – Inside A Dream (curious after their good effort with Talking Dreams, especially the song Cool Kids) The Pretty Reckless – TBC (hoping for something this year, even though very unlikely, but also something different since the last one was very introspective andfilled with pain, so I hope Taylor Momsen is in a better condition now. Very unlikely to happen, though) Halestorm – TBC (unlikely, but I hope for something better than the last album because they're capable of it) Purity Ring – TBC (very hyped for it if it happens considering how amazing another eternity was) CHVRCHES – TBC (I think it will be released some time in 2018 and the expectations are the expectations are very high) Breaking Benjamin – Ember (I hope it'll be as good as Dark After Dawn and judging by the title it has got some fire in it) Within Temptation – TBC (hoping for a new album since a new tour has been confirmed, but I hope for something better than Hydra and probably heavier, but I kow they'll never go back to something like The Silent Force, The Heart Of Everything or even The Unforgiving since their tendency is to get heavier with every new album) Nightwish – TBC (unlikely to happen since the band has stated that hiatus periods are going to be longer and they'll also be touring in 2018, but if it happens I hope Tuomas Holopainen makes something amazing like Endless Forms Most Beautiful) Muse – TBA (not too hyped since I missed out on the last one, but hoping for good at least) Arctic Monkeys - TBA (curious after having listened to AM and Favourite Worst Nightmare) Franz Ferdinand – Always Ascending (random pick based on critics lists) The 1975 – Music For Cars (random pick based on critics lists) Fickle Friends – You Are Someone Else (random pick based on wikipedia) Echo and the Bunnymen – The Stars, The Ocean and The Moon (no expectations, just a random pick based on wikipedia) Kacey Musgraves – Golden Hour (very curious for it after Same Trailer Different Park) Against The Curent - TBC (very unlikely, but if it happens the expectations are very high) Radiohead - TBC (very unlikely to happen since it's not on any critics list) Delain - TBC (very unlikely, but high expectations for a new album as well) Tonight Alive - Underworld (hoping for it to be as good as Limitless) As to the albums that are unlikely/very unlikely to happen, I'm hoping for at least 1 or 2 singles from those bands. We'll see as the year goes since nothing relevant has been released yet. As to the biggest names and albums, I hope it goes in a better direction in 2018.
Yes! 2018 will be amazing Not sure if they gonna release something this year, it seems like that they're taking a break right now. I'm still hoping though. The thing is you never fucking know lmao, cause they're barely active on social media or talking about what they do in general, they like to focus 100% on the music. it could be that the album will come out in till 2019 or suddenly they will drop a single out of nowhere Martin already confirmed an album release for 2018. Pretty hyped for this one! and btw 7 songs are already out, I love all of them 100% sure it will come out in 2018, they were recording for the most part of 2017. can't wait!
I wish we had already known more titles of albums, more album covers and that some bands had already released some singles, but from what I see January isn't gonna be that active. For me I'm looking forward to only one album this month, but can check out some things if some critics deem them to be good. I know CHVRCHES are releasing an album this year and I'm also thinking of going to see them live this July, but that will depend on whether other artists I consider more worthy of buying a ticket will be touring or not. As to Fickle Friends I have no expectations, but the album may surprise me. BMTH is really unknown, but I'm really hoping for at least a single. A band like Echosmith for example is really difficult to predict if what they're releasing will be good since it will be very hard for them to top the last album even knowing that some songs could have been better and the record felt all the same throughout, no more than a 7 out of 10 for me and I think they'll never reach the level of songs like Cool Kids or Bright. It's a band that could have a much better energy, but sometimes they sound too minimalistic, so if they could do something different in terms of instrumentation I'd be totally on board with that and even Sydney could sing in a more expansive way. Since they made that Heavy prank, I'd like to see a Mike Shinoda feature on the album, but that's unlikely. I could include Brandi Carlile on the list as well because I liked her long gone hit The Story, but not expecting much from her. Most of the bands I only know they are making music when they release the albums, not prior because I follow them on social media, but don't use my social media that often and only get to know the albums through critics, Spotify or Youtube. As to 2018 it's difficult to say if hit songs are going to be better than 2017, but last year was not good except for no more than a handful of hits, even though there was a lot of quality outside the charts . From the top 40 of the year I only liked One More Light, Reputation by Taylor Swift and most of blurryface by 21 Pilots, though I could have listened to The Weeknd's Starboy, Metallica's Hardwired or Adele's 25 even if they're not from 2017 so I hope 2018's final top 40 can have more albums released in 2018 and less soundtrack albums. There can always be some new unexpected artists making relevant breakthroughs like Dua Lipa did last year, but I never know becausse I don't listen to EPs. I'd like to see more rock on the charts, though, but it'll probably not go that way again. Every year more and more effortless songs seem to be the preference of most people, which is not totally bad if those songs are at least funny, which doesn't seem to be the case either.
Every Open Eye was amazing, much better than The Bones Of What You Believe, but with room for improvement. I hope they don't use male vocals on this one because that was my clear objection in both records. In terms of sounds it's one of the best electropop bands, but they can make even catchier melodies if they want while sounding more modern. I'm hoping for songs like Bury It, Never Ending Circles, Leave A Trace, Never Ending Circles or Keep You On My Side in terms of how catchy they can be. Lauren's vocals are very good in most songs, but in some songs they miss to get stuck in my head either because of the poor male vocals, less hitting choruses or safer singing by Lauren. A feature with an artist similar to Hayley Williams would be good as well or even a more electropop leaning artist, but honestly 2017 brought too many features to music, so I'm a bit tired of that. They could also use more guitar and drums while still being electropop, just like PVRIS does. It seems that the album will only come in the second half of the year, unless they release a single soon.
I don't really see that happening tbh, the "80s synths" is their trademark. but still I wish they could try something different this time like using more live instruments and let Lauren exploring more different singing styles, she always used the same style over and over
That's exactly why I say she plays it safe in some of the deep cuts and I'd like to see her expanding her singing style.

Thank you! That title sounds familiar now that you mention it but I had no idea it had a release date already. Makes sense to release it the week of the SB.
Personally am not a fan of the sound and generally the sound of music based on nostalgic and retro ideas.
Beginning the list with Camila Cabello's album Camila and redifined categories. I'll be updating here as I listen to more albums with the overlooked albums coming in December.
