Not quite sure where to post this so I chose to post it here. So I'm a beginner acoustic guitar player (been playing for 2 months), and recently one of my strings broke. I understand there are many types of stings. What I'm looking for is a light, warm string. But I honestly have no clue the brand I should get, what coating I should get, etc. Could anyone help me and/or give me some suggestions?

    I prefer
D'Addario strings on my acoustic and electric. For acoustic I just use the light gauge (.012, .016, .024, .032, .042, .053). If you look on the back of a package you'll usually see an explanation of the strings and their quality.

Most acoustic guitars are strung with .012's at the factory, so gauge-wise, it'd be a similar feel to what you're used to already. I personally use D'Addario EXP11 80/20's. I like the EXP series better than the regular 80/20's because they're coated, which cuts down on some of the really harsh "twang" you tend to get with non-coated strings if you hit them too hard. I've tried the Phosphor version of the EXPs too, but I prefer the "regular" ones a bit more.
